the next day, woojin was called by no other than the ceo of his current company, rhymer.

and this brought sudden surprise, as he has never been given full attention from his leader, at least that's how he remembers it. him, daehwi, youngmin hyung and donghyun hyung has always been a full package, though separating himself from his hyungs wasn't really hard anyway as those two always stick together like magnet. woojin is always left with daehwi, who apparently does most of the talking. but now without daehwi, woojin had no idea what was all this about.

he doesn't have to worry about it that much, right? despite his intimidating figure, rhymer is a nice guy. he appreciates woojin's hardwork as much as he appreciates the others, so woojin doesn't have to think hard about it.

"oh woojin, you're here fast." the man embraced him warmly like a father meeting his long missed son. "you're doing fine?"

woojin nodded. actually no, he's not doing fine, at least emotionally. 2 days after the finals and he still couldn't stop himself from crying. it was nice for ymc to at least give them time to recover, as woojin obviously doesn't feel like it's the time to meet up with jihoon, baejin, or any of his teasing dongsaengs at this hour (daehwi was an exception, he couldn't get away from a labelmate) so he was grateful.

the thought of hyungseob still abbreviates his common sense.

"preparing myself for debut," woojin said with a tint of pride in his voice (one that he has to force out, it would be suspicious if he looks sad by the thought of debuting)

"that's my boy."

"so what did you call me for?"

"oh yes," he clasped his hands. ".. i heard you're close with the yuehua trainee ahn hyungseob, i suppose?"

oh crap. "you heard that from youngmin hyung, did you?"

he paused. "... yes but not entirely. it's quite noticeable, if you ask me."

woojin muttered under his breath. "wait until i expose him with donghyun hyung-"

"i'm sorry?"

"nothing important. what about hyungseob?"

"yes about that," he took a deep breath, a sign that could mean that this isn't great news. "as we both know, he ended at the 16th place at the finale."

"yes, he did." you don't have to remind me, that's what woojin wanted to say, but it didn't slip his mouth.

"this isn't information that you are supposed to know because we were already warned by the courtesy of mnet but knowing you're close with him-"

"what's wrong with him, seonsaengnim?" as much as woojin wanted to be patient, knowing hyungseob wasn't in a good situation to the part where his ceo had to ask about him for it is already off the limits.

"we all thought that the results were pure and untroubled."

"that's correct."

"well.." he looked down in dishonor. "it's not."

woojin's eyes widened. "did i take away hyungseob's place?"

"no, no! you're perfectly fine." he reassured. "but we were told a few days before the finale, that the current ceo of yuehua is.." he let go an unrelenting sigh. "not allowing hyungseob to debut through wanna one."

and in that moment, woojin didn't know how to control his emotions. his heart burnt on fire, his jaw clenching so hard it could break at the moment. he was unable to speak.

"it was such a shame though, because hyungseob's votes really increased during the finale and the staffs were completely impressed by the improvement."

"i-if he didn't want him to debut, why did he put him in produce on the first place?!"

"there's no confirmed reason as to why," he explained quietly. "but it is most likely because they would like to debut a group for themselves, with hyungseob being the center as he is very popular to the netizens."

woojin still thinks it all still doesn't add up. 4 months of torture, worth for nothing in last minute? especially the fact that hyungseob had a very high chance of debuting with him.

hyungseob could've debut, but he didn't.

and it wasn't because of him, it was because of heartless people and a shitty company.

"does hyungseob know about this?" woojin asked again, now his cheeks were throbbing red.

"yes he did. a few hours before the finale."

and he still managed to keep himself strong until the last stage. woojin let out a frustrating groan. he wasn't disappointed,

he was furious.
