                                                                          Soul's POV

For the last few days, I tried to keep away from the hospital hall. I was selfish, and scared. Everytime I see Maka, or even hear her name, a sharp pain would run past my heart.

Stein said her memories could destroy her. I asked him if she knew, he said "no" Then I asked if he planned on telling her...he shook his head side to side.

I couldn't bare the thought of standing in a graveyard...her...being the one in the casket.

I stood in front of the door to our room when I heard someone inside. As i twisted the knob and stepped into the house, a delicious smell surrounded me. I looked up past the counter into the bright light shining over the stove in the kitchen. A large pot stood on the stove.

"H-hello?" I asked while shutting the door behind me.

"Soul?" A familar femanine voice echoed.

"Maka?" I threw my bag onto the couch and looked around. I gazed down the hall. There, standing half in half out of her room was Maka herself. A light smile spread across her face making my heart leap.

She turned towards me and quickly limped down the hall, she wrapped her arms around my kneck. I slowly lifted my hands up and pulled her closer.

We stood that way for what felt like forever, when I broke the silence, "Wh- what are you doing here? You're suppose to be resting" My hands cupped her sides as her eyes met mine.

"The Professor gave me the day off" She laughed. Ismiled but looked down on her with suspision. "Don't be worried Soul, it's just for tonight, besides, I could use a meal that didn't come from the hospital kitchen" She joked letting me go.

Maka walked back into the kitchen, I stood there for a moment...wishing she would come back. I walked over and sat down in the stool watching as she stirred the water.

We ate at the table. It was as if nothing had ever changed. It was nice. I would ask some old jokes and she laughed, even though they were pretty corny.

I helped her pick up the dishes when suddenly I hear glass break. I jump around and look at maka. She stared at the floor across from her, her hads shaking. A plate stood in pieces across the floor. Her face showed fear.

I ran to her side and lightly grabbed her shoulders. "Maka?" Her eyes continued to gaze at the floor. "Maka!"

Her eyes blinked a few times before her gaze turned to me, "What is it?"
