A Missing Soul

Chapter 30 Finale Part 2

Soul:

My eyes froze on our hands intercepted. I must have imagined but...I swear i felt her fingers caress mine. I leaned in closer tightening my grip on her hands. Another tear fell past me onto her bed.

"M-Maka?" I whisper. There was no response...just silence in this empty room. I lay my head down on her stomach, my knees buckling and hitting the floor. One hand stayed holding hers while the other went around and lightly touched her opposite arm. 

More tears fell onto the pale hispital sheet covering her even paler body. I stayed like that for a while, not wanting to move, just too afraid that is I moved away i would miss it, the slight beat of her heartbeat, or just a movement of a finger...I couldnt' take the chance.

But then again...I might just be...overreacting...

'Boom Boom' My eyes flew open. A sound came from inside her chest, I lay my ear against her skin listening, and i heard it again, and again!

"Maka?" I say more clearly now. I sit up and look at her face, there was still no color, but I saw it..the slight movement of her lips, the even slighter twitch of her eye behin her closed eye lids, then mumbling. I heard mumbling! "Maka?" I say a little louder but not too loud to frighten her.

"s-soul?" It was quiet and weak, but I heard it.

I leaned forward holding her hand to my chest, "I'm here, Maka, I'm here" I smiled as another tear fell, but tis time from happiness. Her eye lids twitched as they blinked apoen just a sliver, small enough for me to see her eyes move towards me scanning my face.

"Soul" She said a little louder as a smile crossed her face and her eye lids opened a little more. I moved forward, my right palm cupping the side of her face. Her head moved towards it as her other hand came up and placed it on top of mine.

"I thought I'd lost you" I say trying not to let her see me cry, but it was a little late for that. 

"You did" She said truthfully but continued, "...but I...I couldn't wait"

Everything inside me just felt like it started up again, my heart came out of hiding and went back to it's place knowing now...it only had to beat for one person. 

"I thought I would never see you again" I leaned in placing one hand behind her neck...and kissed her. It was the strongest thing I have ever felt in my entire life. Our lips touching, the feeling on peace and happiness, the feeling of our 2 pieces finaly coming together after almost an eternity of separation. 

And I held that kiss, I held it for as long as I could until I knew that both of us needed to come up for air at some point. I slowly pulled back where our faces were only inches away from each other.

We just stayed like that in silence, just staring into eachother's eyes. I know, kind of corny, but when you just lost someone you loved, you want to hold it tight before you lose it again.

After a while doctors and loved ones had filled the room asking questions, shedding tears..but...none of them even tried to move us from where we stayed. 

A few minutes later Stein had gently asked me to step aside so they could talk to Maka. Though I didn't want to...I knew I had to. so I stepped back but kept her in sight. I looked toward the door just as a dark shadow flies past the door frame. I walk towards it and look down the all left and right, no one there.

Suddenly the speakers that hung all around the school came on, and a strange yet familiar voice began to speak to the school, "Hello all residents of Meister Academy, I wish that you would all stop what you are doing and open your ears to this very important announcement" Something was wrong, i could feel it. Everyone in the room looked up towards the speaker suspiciously. "My name is Phoenix" my eyes widened from shock, I knew I recognized the voice. "And I am proud to announce that from here on, you will listen to me. Death...is no more" This is when people started to panic.

"Is this for real?" Someone said from within the room.

"And just in case you dont believe me...look outside" Immediately Stein walked to the window and pulled the blinds. People jumped back in shock. hanging outside the school on a tall pole...was death's head, or mask. Maka was sitting up in her bed, fear spreading across her face. I walked over and stood next to her.

Phoenix laughed over the speaker, "I am the new director at this academy, and if any of you try to defy me, or even try to escape..well..." Suddenly the entire school began to shake as a huge blue/green shield came up from the school grounds and surrounded the entire school.

"You are mine now"
