Chapter 1

My sister, Haven my dad and mom are all this town has now, we are all by ourselves nothing but us and the fight to live even if it hasn't been that long.
We have been fighting since what we thought was the end of the world which was 2 weeks ago but turns out it wasn't so here I was. Stuck.
I'm only 17and I have to deal with all this weight on my shoulders.
Finding them and living.
The whole end of the world thing was fake the news said radiation storm so everyone fled like birds leaving for the winter.
But I stayed with my family. My mistake, because turns out it was only my town that was under this "attack."
It's 2038 and common deadly viruses are everywhere apparently there was one here. That's what they said after they told us about the so called radiation storm.
So basically they told us that the world was ending and most of our small town fled and the ones that stayed saw nothing, so the news told us our town had a deadly virus so all the other families left.
We were going to, we were packing up when I heard a hissing noise outside, I peaked out and saw a horrific sight that changed everything I though about what they had told us.
I thought they were truthful.
They weren't.
The moment of the horrific incident
"Dad we need to get to the basement" I yelled on the top of my lungs.
" Cas, your fine I know it's hard leaving we can't hide from the-" I cut him off
"DAD NOW" I cracked the curtain as I screamed at him, he looked out and saw what I saw.
"Okay, okay they don't know we're here if we go out and yell, they'll-they'll" my dad stopped when he realized they wouldn't care.
I began to think, earlier that morning they came over on the police radio we found, they said "calling all citizens still in the town of haven"
I quickly shot up and went on the radio.
"Yes all of our neighbors are gone were here, I believe we're the only ones," I spoke nervously.
They spoke back telling us we'd be fine that as soon as we got out of there to send a signal on the radio and that would be it.
I told him we would do just that.
But when we packed up they started spraying.
In my train of thought I began to panic and by the time I had stopped thinking about everything we were already down to the basement.
I didn't believe them anymore about the stupid sickness thing.
I couldn't no way I couldn't not after what they did, they lied. I hated liars.
I mean I have lied before But not when I had some ones life in my hands.
I told my dad what I thought.
"Dad" I spoke up,
"I think, I think they lied to us, they said there was a radiation storm... That was a lie and now they told us they'd let us get out of here safe. Lie. It's a web of lies. There is nothing right about this. They want this land for something, but people lived here so they try to get us to leave, almost all of them left but us." A single tear dropped from my face and my mom assisted in wiping it for me.
"Honey but why would they try to kill us with this, this gas?" My dad said in an unsure voice.
"I think, they think we know what there planning to do, dad they're hiding something I'm telling you." I said as my whole body shook in fear.
