Havens POV
My older sister sat and questioned the snake almost the whole day. The twins and I sat there for like 2 hrs listening.
After he told us about the whole undead thing my sister sat there puzzled for a bother 5 minutes. I dug my attention towards the twins.
"Undead?" I asked them.
"I guess so." They spoke in unison.
I smiled at them. I loved when they talked that way.
"Now who wants to play a game?" Kennedy asked as she rubbed her hands together. Kenneth and I both raised our hands and called out me. We sat there as my sister continued speaking in the background. We played duck duck goose for the next 3 hours as my sister questioned the snake.
Cassidy's POV
We sat there for half the night questioning the snake. He didn't know much else. Just that the undead was spreading across Maine. I looked down at my watch.
It was 3:15. The twins and Haven were playing duck, duck goose.
It frustrated me that this guy only knew a fraction of answers too my questions. I had a thirst for answers to my questions and nothing this guy said quite clenched my thirst.
So I made a decision by myself.
"I believe you." I told him with a serious face.
"Good" he sighed
"Can you let me go now?" I still sat there staring at him.
"Please? Please? My family is at his base he promised that if we helped him he'd protect them! He told me if I die he will let them go." He begged me as he began to cry.
"One more thing. Why would he want the twins? I get me with my fighting abilities but the twins they're only 9 why would he want children, why?." I asked as I tilted my head to the side at him.
"He is working in a serum to clone people, at the time when he called he wanted the twins because they're identical and basically clones, since then he has given up on the idea. They're not needed anymore. Instead of clones he took some couples who volunteered for his new study, to make them pregnant with twins so he could eventually become a part of his army. And in about 16 years his army now will be doubled since he'll have twice as many people." He responded as he stopped crying.
I made a decision on my own now.
"Take me to him. I'll let you go if you take me too him." I said as I nodded. I began to cut the rope now. Ashton came up behind me.
"Are you crazy? We can't let him go. We have to run. His boss is lying! He is to you to lure you in! We can't go Cass, we can't!" He begged as he motioned every word he was saying with his hands.
"I need to see if it's true, his story checks out so far now I need to go and see if his and his bosses story matches. So I know this guy is telling the truth."
I said as I continued cutting the rope.
"If they're trying to save people then why are they putting them in cells?" Ashton reminded me.
"Oh yeah." I stopped cutting the rope now, looking into the snakes eyes.
"Why do you take them to cells." I said, cocking my head and crossing my arms.
"We were told to take them at the border when they go to leave and take them to our base and put them in cells. Caleb comes into the cell area and explains everything. He asks them if anybody would like to volunteer to be a soldier. If they do he takes them and trains them." He said as held his tied together hands out for me to continue cutting.
"And the ones who don't want to be in his army?" I asked as I stayed in the same position as before.
"Well the ones who don't get taken out to a safe neighbor hood outside of the base. If they're is family members of one the solders then they go to a special section in the neighbor hood. He told us if we die he will be forced to throw them out." He said as he kept his hands held up.
"Okay I still believe you." I said as I began to cut the rope again.
"Cass, I don't think this is a good idea." Ashton continued to object.
"Ash, I believe him. And you're Caleb's son he would not hurt you." I paused my cutting now.
"He wouldn't hurt you or your girlfriend." I said as I smirked, leaning in for a kiss. I have him a peck on the lips and began cutting again.
When the snake was released he didn't run. Instead he laid on the log, drifting to sleep.
I decided to do the same. We all laid down on the cold, twiggy ground and fell asleep.
