Katie POV

I watched Max close his suitcase and leaned against the door. 
"You're really leaving without saying anything to her?" I asked.
"It's better this way." he replied and looked at me. "I don't ask you to understand."
"Right.." I mumbled. "You do realize that you'll hurt her right? Then there's really no way to tell her your feelings."
"She's better off with Garroth... Or Laurance... Or Travis... Or well... You know" Max said.
I sighed. "At least stay until we leave." I said and looked away.
"What do you mean?" 
"(Y/n)'s ticket is for an extra few weeks. The rest of us is leaving on the 4th of next month and she's leaving around the 20th." I explained. "And besides that.. You could at least hang out with her one more time." 
Max blinked and looked at me. "How?"
I held a sheet of paper out to him.

"A singing contest?" I read out loud.
"Isn't that something for you?" Aphmau asked.
"It sounds like fun." I agreed.
"Although, you'd probably beat everyone." Katelyn said.
"Hehe, I'm not that good." I said and scratched the back of my neck. "You're good at singing too y'know." 
"I am?" Katelyn asked "Well... I guess I do like singing a lot." 
"So are you going to compete in it?" Aphmau asked.
"Hmm... If you and Katelyn compete as well." I replied.
"What? Why?" She said and looked at me.
"It'll be fun! And you can sing together." I explained.
Katelyn looked at Aphmau and back at me. "Alright, I'm in. But with who are you going to sing?"
"Hm... I could ask one of the girls.." I said. "I'll have to see about it. Let's go give our names first."

I sighed and entered the house. Cornelia looked up from her book. 
"Cornelia? You're... reading... a book?" I asked and blinked.
"Hehehe.... Yeah..." She said nervously. 
"Okay, you're reading it upside down. You haven't been abducted by aliens yet." I said and walked to the stairs.
"Hey! What do you mean with that?!" Cornelia called after me.
 I ignored her and continued walking. When I reached the top, I almost bumped into Max. I stepped back and looked at him.
"Hey Max!" I said and smiled.
"Oh, hi (Y/n).." He said. "I was actually just about to go out to find you.." 
"Hm? Is there something you wanted?" I asked. 
"Well... I wanted to join the singing contest and I was wondering... If you could be my second vocalist for the song I chose." He said without looking at me.
I smiled. "Sure!" I said.
"Really?" 
"Of course!" I said. "Then I'll see you tomorrow at one! Oh, and please stop sounding like Garroth."
I walked passed him to my room. Tomorrow will be great! I thought.

Next day

I looked around and nervously jumped up and down.
"There are so many people!" I commented in awe. "As if the whole island came here." 
"Practically everyone is here." Lucinda told me.
"You can't know that." I said.
"I know everything." She stated and crossed her arms. 
"We're the first ones!" Laurance said nervously.
I looked at him. "Good luck up there!" I said.
"I'm not nervous... I'm not nervous at all." Garroth said.
"Don't be nervous..." I said to him.
"You're nervous!" Laurance and Garroth both exclaimed.
Aphmau and I laughed at them,  then the two of them went to the podium. 
After a bit Guy came on stage to present the people that were going to sing.
"This is so lame..." Lucinda commented.
"Thank you all for coming to this year's singing contest!" Guy exclaimed through the microphone. "Our first contestants are Garroth and Laurance with the song faster car!"
Then he disappeared and the two boys walked on stage. 
"You can do it guys!" I exclaimed.
"You got this!" Aphmau exclaimed from next to me.

I clapped and watched them bow for the public. Laurance winked at me. 
"That was our first performance!" Guy exclaimed and appeared between Laurance and Garroth.
They both jumped in surprise. 
"Where did you come from!?" Garroth asked.
"Here, there, everywhere!" Guy replied happily. "Next up are Katelyn and Aphmau with Take a hint!" 
Aphmau squeaked and hurried passed me. I watched her run into Katelyn and chuckled. 
"Those two.." I took a deep breath "Do your best guys! Break a leg!" 
"What did she mean with that?" Katelyn asked Aphmau.
"I don't want to break my leg!" Aphmau whined.
I snorted. "I love them." 

After Aphmau and Katelyn were finished, Travis and Dante sang Lucky Strike. After them Cornelia and Luna with Fuwa Fuwa Time! from an anime called K-on. Of course... (Sorry fan here) 
I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked at Max.
"Ready?" He asked.
I nodded.

Ooooooh a singing contest eh? 
I wonder how this will turn out! Good luck with it in the next chapter!
