Chapter 10. I'm sorry

After that deafening screech I couldn't help the massive tidal wave of guilt that flooded through me, I couldn't believe what I had just done.

Running to the table I throw it off him with all I got. I just look at him. He's not waking up.

I just hurt one of the most important things in my life. Looking at Shadow's lifeless body laying on the ground made me want to die inside.

"Shadow!" No, no, no, no.

"Shadow!" I sob out.

I can't lose him, he's my life, he's too young. I feel like I'm losing a child even though I've never had one.

Kickstarting my brain I think, willing the tears to not escape my eyes. I run to the kitchen as fast as I can to retrieve what I need. Running to the front door and running out, I run to my dads car and hop in.

My dad taught me how to drive, he is actually a really great racer not only because he started at a young age but because he started trail bike riding young too. Dad owns a go kart and he let me go in it after I started showing interest in motorbike riding, he started taking me to proper tracks where I use to drive for fun until I became really good, I was unbeatable.

I would have people come up to my dad and I and shaking our hands saying I was a great racer, later I started getting recognised by people in the racing industry and people were making me offers and deals to race for them. My dad told me it's a very dangerous job and he didn't want it to interfere with my education at the moment.

I wouldn't mind having a career in racing but my dad told me there is not future in it if you don't become big, I have no idea what I want to do when I'm older and honestly thinking about it makes me scared.

Reversing up the driveway, I reverse into the garage until I see everyone still there, I see Caleb on the floor holding Shadow's limp body in his arms crying. My heart breaks, he can't be gone can he? He can't leave me just yet! That's unfair! H- he can't go, I won't let him.

Running up to Shadow and Caleb, Caleb looks up to me with pure hate in his eyes. I can't take it, I love both of them so much and I have done such a bad thing.

"You fucken bitch! You have killed him." Caleb screams.

"Caleb, n-no it was a a-accident." I say.

"It wasn't meant to happen!" I yell out.

"I love this dog too much! I would take his place 100 times over!" I can't look anyone in the eye. I talk to one of the only people who don't hate me right now. The brothers.

"Luca, Chase. Grab Shadow quickly now!" I order, and they have no complaints.

Then I look at my mother.

"The day you stopped being my mum and turned into my mother was the first day you wished me dead, I hate you so much." I say these words with so much venom and hate, I don't regret them at all.

Caleb gently releases Shadow while sobbing uncontrollably. Chase and Luca pick him up while looking at me with questionable gazes.

Running to the car I open the boot and gesture for them to put him in there. Running to the drivers seat I smash the key into the ignition and start the car. Already and the end of the driveway I see Luca just keeping up on the side of the car until he reaches the door and opens it harshly smashing into the car set with a massive thud.
