Luca's Challenge

Chapter 16. Call me Black Shadow

My hands grip the steering wheel tightly, my body is tense and ridged all over.

Luca kissed me, and I kissed him back! I'm confused because what did that kiss mean to him? Luca is always kind to me, but I don't know why. He has been my rock while staying at this place.

I just don't want my heart being broken.

"5!" I hear shouted out of the blaring speakers.

"4!" I glance over to my side to see the competitors getting ready.

"3!" I close my eyes letting my anger consume me, I think of the bad things making me more motivated, more fearless without a second thought of hesitation.

"2!" Focus Alexa, you can do this.

"1!" My heart speeds up and I can feel it pumping though my chest, ready to burst out.

Then I hear a gun shot signalling the start of the race, my eyes snap open while I'm already speeding off.

Thoughts whipping in and out of my mind like mosquitos attracted to a light, I see the car beside me try to take me over but I smash into it causing it to swerve out.

The race goes by in a blur before its just me and the pink car racing for the finish line, we are equal, neck and neck fighting for 1st place which we are both determined to get.

We both race over the line at the same time, not knowing who won. Is couldn't be a tie could it? No way.

Stepping out of the car I see the crowd going wild, they are chanting words I can't even make out, I look over to where the 'business men' are sitting and see them all talking amongst themselves.

"There seems to be difficulty in who has won, we are reviewing the footage now." I here the same male voice from the start of the race say through the speakers.

I hear the crowd boo and chant again.

"Who wants who to win? Pink or black!" He yells through the speakers talking about the colour of our cars. The crowd roars and I hear the majority of the crowd scream pink, she must be a regular.

"The winner is..." He says while the crowd start to stomp on their feet.

"Black!"

What?

I won!

This is ridiculous, I can't believe I won!

"Alexa!" I hear a voice yell from behind me. Spinning around I see Pete with a grin on his face.

"Yes Alexa! That's what I want to see." He says enthusiastically.

"Where's Luca." When I asks this he puts a grim face on but is instantly replaced with a blank face within a second, I just look at him confused.

"He's alright, he wouldn't shut up." He says. Oh Luca.

Looking at Pete I feel someone crash into my side pulling me into them, I try to pull back but it does absolutely nothing.

"Lex." He says. Thank god it's him "you did pretty good." He says.

"Pretty good?" I say pushing away from Luca "I did great." I say confidently folding my arms over my chest.
