The dimly lit of halls of Hogwarts were deathly quiet.
Hermione Granger, usually very keen at following rules, silently walked across the castle to the Slytherin quarters. Draco had asked her to meet him in his common room to go over some of his assignments. Normally Hermione would've refused sneaking out at such an ungodly hour, but Draco's beautiful gray eyes had convinced her otherwise.

The plan was for Draco to unlock the common room door once Hermione knocked.
Hermione arrived at the door precisely when planned. She knocked and stood back.

Nothing.

Hermione raised an eyebrow. He probably didn't hear. She knocked again.

Silence.

A little irritated now, she put down her stack of books and cupped her mouth to the door.

"Draco. Open up, it's me."

But no movement or sound replied.

"How annoying. I can't believe he didn't wake up. Well I guess I should at least try to leave these books for him."

Hermione stared at the door for a couple minutes, trying to figure out what the password could be.
Slytherins are not the brightest, but they can be clever at times.

'Serpents' would be an obvious choice.
'Snakes' sounds too ordinary.

"Aha. Vipers." Hermione whispered.

The lock clicked and the dungeon doors creaked open. Hermione smiled with triumph and picked up her books. He stepped in the common room, and looked around at the large room. A fire crackled and spat embers. Hermione walked across the room, entranced with the large portraits hanging on the walls. The dark room was dressed in black and green. Hermione eyed a table a little ways away. She walked to the corner and placed the books down on it. She picked up and spare sheet of paper and began to write Draco's name on it when she heard a noise. She froze and looked around.

*thump*

Hermione walked towards the noise. She rounded an empty corner. She gasped and quickly brought her hands to cover her mouth.

Through the darkness, Hermione could just make out a figure lying on the floor.
Draco was convulsing. His entire body shook violently and his eyes were rolled back into his head.

Hermione ran towards him.

"Draco! Draco! Stop it! Look at me!"

She tried to grasp his face but he was moving too much. Tears fell from her face as Draco's body strained and turned.

Then all of a sudden, he stopped.
Hermione laid there draped over him sobbing. Draco's form was utterly still.

"Draco please wake up."

But no sound or movement came from the Slytherin.
