"You know, your face will stay like that if the wind changes." Snape smirked playfully, nudging Liliana in the arm.

It was the day after he had been rudely disturbed by Hermione Granger and he had followed the red head up to the astronomy tower.

"I was just looking at the view, it's breathtaking. The birds singing, the leaves blowing in the wind it almost makes the world look like a beautiful place." She smiled, turning her head and allowing her green eyes to be captured by his enchanting black pools.

"Almost? I wouldn't say the world is almost a beautiful place, would you?" Snape inquired, his heart softening.

He watched the puzzled look on her face as she contemplated her response. "It is beautiful Severus, it's just that sometimes it can be a sad place."

"I don't think it can be anything other than beautiful when it has you in it." He smiled, his feelings running away with him. "Severus, I know that you're confused but please, don't make me want to kiss you again." She replied sadly.

"I owe you something Liliana, an explanation. When I told you it was because of rule breaking I lied. When have I ever cared for rules? I need to tell you the real reason.."

Liliana sat against the wall, and Snape followed suit, he paused and took a deep breath.

"The reason I cannot be with you is because there was once this girl I adored, she was perfect in every way. And I ended up hurt.."
Snape admitted, reluctantly.

"That doesn't mean that I would hurt you, we're not the same person." Liliana laughed.
"That's the issue, you are exactly like her. You look like her and talk like her. You're even kind and selfless like her..."

"That's what Dumbledore was trying to tell me, he knew about you and her."

"He talked to you? Why doesn't this surprise me. The only thing that matters now is that you learn the truth. I want you to be mine but you remind me of her too much." Snape cried, unable to control his emotions.

"So we are in exactly the same place we were yesterday, what is the point in this conversation?"

"The point is that I'm going out of my bloody mind because I'm madly in love with you and I can't keep away from you even though I have to! Can't you see what this is doing to me? No, you're oblivious to it because you're an insolent girl who wants to toy with me!"

Liliana cowered as Snape screamed at her, she didn't know wether to hit him or cry. She tried to get up and he tugged at her arm angrily.

"Let go Severus! it's no wonder people give up on you... you let your own problems destroy every good bone in your body. And yes I am insolent because I was stupid enough to put aside my feelings and accept just being friends."

She ran from the astronomy tower in floods of tears, feeling stupid and humiliated. 'What kind of monster is he? I wish I didn't love him.' She sobbed, running straight into the arms of another man...
