3. Scorpio
Oh, Scorpio. The lover of all things dark, mysterious, and astrological. We met through some mutual friends one night at the club and ended up combining our circles so that you could psychoanalyze every fiber of my being, as long as I allowed you to investigate them.
I explained to you how my brother is a Scorpio and how I believed for ages that I too was one of your kind. You soon discovered, quicker than I did, that I am actually a Sagittarius, and by just barely a week. You then shared your astrology knowledge, intrigued by my attentiveness toward your words.
You asked all of my friends what their signs were, but you only went into detail when it came to analyzing me and my sign. I may have seemed interested because I allowed you to investigate me, but the truth is that I was more interested in investigating you as you tried to do the same to me. You asked several questions, and it didn't take long for me to discover your intentions.
Both strong willed and certain to achieve whatever you please, I could tell your pursuit of me wasn't going to fade too fast. You could have talked for hours, stealing the spotlight from competitors out there by the smoky area we met in. You mentioned your past, how others viewed you as mysterious or dark, and how past lovers ran from you for reasons still unknown. I listened, attentive to your movements: how your eyes shifted their contact between me and my friends, and your smile, which somehow made your statements seem lighter than they actually were. No matter what, you were going to try to entice me into learning more about myself through your eyes.
And you were great at your dark game, allowing the conversation to drift seemingly naturally to analyze my friends occasionally so that I wouldn't be too overwhelmed by your slightly invasive personality when you circled around to ask me another question. You may be strong willed and determined, but so am I. It may have taken me some time, but I discovered the slight tinge of toxicity and unease gently tainting the air during our conversation.
If you're reading this, Scorpio, you may be curious at this moment as to why you are on this album. The answer lies in the events that occurred the next time we saw each other. Let me explain...
Just like Cartwheel, Scorpio and I hit it off that graceless night at the club during Pride. He walked over to me, covered in leather, before I managed to make my way to Cartwheel. We talked for a bit, he explained how it was nice to see me once again, and our bodies became magnets thanks to the underlying high that had taken over my body.
We ended up kissing for a while, and I was pleasantly surprised at his control over his lips. I tugged slightly on his hair, pulling his neck back. His neck then became my next focus; that is until he pushed my chin up so that our lips would interlock again. I made sure I didn't make it too far from Cartwheel and the rest of the people I came with, just in case I ended up wanting to leave quickly. And eventually I made the decision to do exactly that.
I turned around, facing Cartwheel desperately, and mouthed a silent plea for help:
"Get me away from him," I asked silently. Cartwheel nodded, smiled, and started kissing me while Scorpio watched from behind. If I wasn't high on life, I would have felt terrible. But that night went by too quickly to consider forming any regrets. Eventually Scorpio left, and for the next hour or so, I was Cartwheel's.
Scorpio is on this album because his story shows a different side to what it means to be a tease. Through his story, I learned you can never make everyone happy, and that is okay. Sure, I feel pity for him now because I rejected him that night, but I have to deal with this pity because I chose the summer to maintain the life of being a tease. Thanks to him, I learned not everyone can thrive in a world of only instant pleasures.
One of the most memorable stories I heard from this boy was told the night we met. His story explained how one Scorpio supposedly defeated a Sagittarius in some type of mythology. According to what I heard, the Sagittarius was seen as a threat to society, dangerously optimistic despite their cruel honesty, power, and un-loyal tendencies. Scorpio was called on by society to put an end to the Sagittarius's reign, and so they did with their scorpion-like poison, injuring the Sagittarius. Ever since, according to the Scorpio who told me this, every Sagittarius and Scorpio have a type of heat between them. Now, I'm not one to totally follow the zodiac, but I can see how such a situation may exist between him and I now.
Dramatic but true, there's the truth Scorpio. You were the one that told me that people with my astrology sign love being brutally honest. Maybe you were right.
