The weight of the Manick completely crushed me, knocking the oxygen out of my lungs. A few tears escaped my eyes because of the pain I was met with by the force. I heard a few shouting but I couldn't make out any of it. I looked into it's beady eyes and winced as it screamed in my face, the foul odor completely suffocating me. I closed my eyes as it made a swipe for my face and waited for the pain. I continued to wait but nothing happened. I finally decided to look and the Manick's claws were a couple centimeters away from me and bounded by a firery chain. It was pulled off of me with such force that it slammed into the wall it was attached to just moments before.

I screamed in pain when I tried to get into a sitting position before slumping back down on the cold, wet floor. I could see the glowing Manick out of the corner of my eye breaking lose from its restraints. Its eyes were still on me, it wanted me. Marc suddenly filled my vision.

"Amelia don't get up," he urged. "Look up at the sky. Take short breaths and try to focus on the pain. Focus on healing yourself. You can do it."

I tried to listen to his words but the screams of the Manick were distracting. I couldn't stop thinking that I was running out of time. That monster was going to break free any minute and come after me.

But that Manick was Kat. It was an innocent woman who happened to choose the wrong time and place to be. It was my fault she was this way. That man left the message for me.

"Amelia please listen to the sound of my voice." The Manick screamed somewhere behind him but Marc was holding my face trying to gain my attention. "Come on, you can do it. Speed the process up. Focus Amelia."

A few more tears escaped my eyes as I did what he said. Trying to speed up the process was excruciatingly painful. I imagined myself walking without any pain. I could feel the burning intensify and I cried out. I still wasn't completely healed from the arrow incident so I was healing that too. I wondered why Marc didn't heal himself like this. Marc slowly started to help me up and the pain slowly became a dull ache as I climbed higher and higher. By the time I was on my feet, it was gone.

"Wasn't so bad was it?" Marc said with a small smile. I looked behind him with wide eyes. The Manick broke free from Zain's hold and came charging toward me.

"Marc!" I yelled and he turned around.

Rick suddenly appeared in front of us and tackled the beast to the ground. When he looked back at us, his face was a Skull and his expression was angry.

"Are you just going to stand there?" Rick grunted as he tried to restrain the Manick. The beast continued to scream.

"Isaac! Get Amelia out of here!" Marc screamed and rushed toward his brother's side. Isaac appeared out of the group trying to help and grabbed my arm.

"Let's go." He started to pull me out of the alleyway and I struggled against him. I couldn't just leave. I was the reason this monster was here and I wanted to make sure no one was hurt because of me. It wanted me, a reason I didn't know and I didn't know what it would do if it didn't get me.

"No! I can help!" Isaac was strong and my attempts were doing little to slow him down. He was the same guy who threw me over his shoulder my first day here. I shouldn't have expected anything less. I could feel my anger rising as I started to become desperate.

Isaac stopped and forced me to look at him. "What are you going to do? You can't even control your powers yet. You don't even know what you're capable of."

The screams became louder and I wondered why no one came out of their houses yet. But then I realized they probably couldn't see or hear her. Plus they didn't even come out when Kat was crying for help.
