Skulls and Bones

Chapter twenty two

I had to try to get the confusing story clear in my head if I was to start thinking about what the hell was truly going on here.

For starters, I knew that Marc and Rick were typical brothers growing up. One was a clear thinker and the other spontaneous but they looked out for each other and loved each other. There life was happy and perfect and then Lori came into the picture. They were all close friends and got along. I didn't know the full story between the trio during their younger years but I was guessing that it was happy. Lori then grew up and became queen of the Underworld and was a great one. She was nice and listened to the people and tried to fix things.

But something changed that made her become evil and manipulative. Not only did she cause hell to the Skulls but it looked like she left a legacy on the Bones. She manipulated everyone including Marc and Rick. I didn't have to be a genius to know there was a possible love triangle that happened to ruin the brother's relationship.

Somewhere in there, Katrina was happy and helped everyone that she could. She met Hazel who was younger than her and impacted the girl's life more than I could believe. She trained her and they became close friends. But then Cornelius came into the picture and Katrina distanced herself away from Hazel. Why? I didn't know. Katrina's parents didn't approve of Cornelius for whatever reason and they might not have ended up together if her parents along with Hazel's along with her brother didn't disappear during the disappearances. Katrina was upset but Cornelius was there for her and they fell in love.

By the time Katrina became pregnant with me, Lori was completely evil. Katrina wanted to leave when Lori became queen (she was cautious of the girl just like Hazel was). But she didn't have to. Five months into the pregnancy, Lori disappeared and the Bones took advantage of the fact that the Skulls were weak. Marc shortly became king but he couldn't handle the situation and the Skulls lived in fear. Rick hated that Marc was chosen to be king and further isolated himself from the rest of the Skulls. The Skulls were trapped inside the castle cowering in fear of coming out.

Gabriel showed up around that time. He spent most of his time around my mother and the green giant came out of Cornelius and he threatened Gabriel. But Gabriel told him that I was meant for greatness and at first my mother was happy because she thought that meant I would be queen and change everything. But he told them that if I stayed in the Underworld I would destroy it and I would be killed. My parents didn't at first believe him but that didn't stop Cornelius from seeking help from the Bones.

He told them lies to get the Bones on his side and was able to get my mom and I out of here and safe. But when he was about to join us, Gabriel betrayed him and Cornelius was locked away.

I closed my eyes and leaned against the bars of the cage I was in. I didn't understand what Gabriel had to do in any of this or why he spent so much time around my parents. How did he know all of this was going to happen? He seemed to know the part of the Underworld the Skulls lived in yet Rick had no idea who he was (or so I thought). If he did know, then who was Gabriel exactly and why did he hate us? Why did he want to destroy the Underworld? What would he get out of it?

Gabriel also meant the truth coming out and I couldn't handle if the story I knew was complete bullshit. And then there was Zain.......

My whole life was falling apart before I could even grasp it.

But yet I felt strangely hollow. I couldn't decipher anything I was feeling at the moment. I couldn't even feel the fear of not feeling anything. I just knew that I had to stop whatever was going on.

I looked around at my surroundings. It looked strangely like an empty village and I couldn't help but think of myself as a sacrifice. I then looked at the cage next to me as Rick groaned, finally coming awake.
