This was not how it was suppose to happen. I was suppose to sacrifice myself for the greater good and no one else was suppose to get hurt. But of course that's not what happened.
The Descendants each had their own arrows and were shooting into the crowd. Hazel was able to dodge the attacks but not everyone was so lucky. They fell like bricks but more just kept coming. The ten were doing a pretty good job of keeping back the army of Skulls but I could tell they were struggling. Harm made it easier though. His giant figured crushed those under him and the Descendants finished them off. I looked away from the horrid sight.
Marc had Gabriel pinned under him until Gabriel rolled over and punched him in the face. He wasn't using his powers. He was leveling the field and it looked like he was enjoying it. Even not using his power, Gabriel was stronger and Marc was losing. I felt frozen to the spot.
Cornelius was untying my mother and when he finished, he said a few words to her and she nodded. They both turned to me.
"Come on!" my mother screamed. "We have to get out of here!"
I shook my head. I couldn't run away. If I didn't stop this then the war would just go on and more people would die. I had to counter Gabriel's spell and in order to do that, he had to say it. Gabriel stood up as Marc groaned from his position on the floor.
"I grow tired of this," Gabriel sighed. "All you had to do was let me do the spell. Now you must die."
"No!" I yelled and his head turned to me. "I'll help you with the spell. I'll do whatever you want, just don't kill him."
He chuckled. "He's going to die regardless my little protege," he said. "You're just prolonging his pain and suffering. People like him do not deserve to live, traitors I mean. Take Isaac for example. He was so happy to work for me and didn't care about all those that would die because of him. He's a slippery one I tell you. Sneaks up on you without even realizing and by the time that you do, you're already dead. Isn't that right Isaac?"
I wasn't surprised that Isaac was a bad guy. He was the same person who carried me toward Marc when I first got here, the same one who tried to take me away from the Manick. He never showed any warmth to me but I could tell that Rick was close with him. Everytime I saw Isaac, Rick was always close by. When I heard Isaac's voice, I instantly turned around and I wished I didn't. Because behind him, Rick wad lying unconscious with a pool of blood under him.
"Rick!" I felt my whole world stop. He wasn't moving. I didn't even know if he was breathing. I lost my paralysis and my feet were running towards him. I tried to leave the circle but I was trapped by an invisible barrier.
"Rick! Please say something," I cried. Tears were blurring my vision. His eyes were still closed but from this location I could see his chest rising and falling. He was still alive. But he was still hurt.
He groaned but he didn't say anything. He would never fall easily which meant Isaac snuck up on him like a coward.
"Are you ready to go boss?" Isaac asked as he stood by Gabriel. Gabriel only smiled evilly and stabbed him with one of his arrows. Isaac cried out.
"I never did like traitors," Gabriel said. Isaac's body fell to the ground and ceased to move.
Too many people were dying in a short amount of time. Isaac deserved it but others didn't. Bodies were piling up and I was responsible for it. This all had to stop.
Now.
"I found a way to control the Skulls like you can control the Bones. I could control every movement, every thought, every decision. I was someone to be feared, I was powerful."
