*Damon's POV*

I don't know what to do! I've never been this in love before...and I don't know how to make this right. Yes, I am trying to find a cure, but 48 hours isn't enough time. Not for this kind of search. Worst of all, sixteen hours has already past, and time is running out quickly. And I haven't really had much sleep.

I hear a groan from behind me, so I turn around. She's finally awake. He eyes are puffy red and the cloth on her neck is already filled with blood and puss. I have to get a new piece of cloth now. "Here, Jade." I say, lifting her head gently, but still she groans. I take off the old piece of cloth, and when I look down I see a swollen, puffy, red, bloody, and icky neck. I switch the piece of cloth with a new one and fake a forced smile. I can't act happy when I'm not. "I'm happy to see you've awakened... How are you feeling?"

"Well, not any better at least. The same, I guess, maybe worse..." she mumbled. I am sure it's very hard for her to talk, so I am not going to make her talk any more than she already is.

"I promise you, I'll find the cure." I say, "I'll make sure you stay alive. No matter what the price is on me..." Finally, she tries to smile, but it fails and she just ends up moaning some more in pain. It's so hard to hear her like this...see her like this. This is the hardest thing I’ve been through in my whole life... even worse than me being the one who's being hurt. "I won't let you down, I love you, Jade," I lean in and kiss her forehead.

She closes her eyes slowly and open them again. I turn around not wanting to watch her suffer any longer, plus I need to go find the cure now. I can't just waste all my time watching her die. I have to be able to say I at least tried...

I finally walk away, and go outside. Once I get to the car, I stutter, and start to think of all the good times. A tear falls down my face in thought. I can't imagine living without her. She is my whole life. Without her, I'm dead, too. I know I don't show it too well, but it's true and I hope she knows that.

I slowly sit down and back up the car and start to drive. And finally I reach my destination. An old library that has been in this area forever and is very famous. Old history books... all the things that are "sophisticated."

When I walk in, after a while, I finally find a book on legends. I open the book and the pages look old and wrinkled. Fancy writing. Hand-drawn images. Elves. Witches. Vampires. Werewolves. I am actually surprised they have this much of information. I flip back to the pages that said 'Vampires and I read over it. Vampires are mystical creatures... In this legend, one bite, even the tiniest bite of a Vampire can kill a Werewolf. If this ever so may happen, there's only one cure. A spell; magic. But all magic comes with a price, since only a witch has ever this much power to do so, they have to use all their spell energy to do this spell. They have to be willing to die for this person.

Well this is great, I think sarcastically, I only know one witch. My best friend, Austin from sixth grade. I haven't talked to him in over a year, I still have a way to contact him, but I doubt he'd risk his life for Jade. He doesn't even know her. Well, he knew her, but they never talked. They never really got a along too well. So what do I do?

I hesitated when I grabbed my phone, but typed in his number. I heard the phone ring about three times before I hear a "hello?"

"Hey, Austin, I need your help. Where are you?" I say quickly.

"Hawaii." he answered, "Did you know they have the best water here? I mean, seriously, it's wonderful. You should check it out."

"No, Austin. I'm serious. I really need you to help me." I say almost bitter-like. I hear a quite scuff, and he says alright.

After a long talk with him, about three hours, he told me he'd do it. But for me. He said there’s no life for him, so he could do it. Girls were never falling head-over-heels for him, so he thought he has nothing to live for. Which, it isn't true. I feel so bad having him die for Jade though, he was my best friend, and I hoped to be best friends forever, but he said he was okay with it, he also said he wanted to do it.

Only Austin would want to do it.

After fifteen hours, he finally got off the air plane. It took a while for him to find a plane down here. And it took about ten hours to fly down, so that is why it took him so long. I smile when I see him and it's sad to think today is his last day ever. He smiles back almost like he's having a blast. "Dude, I am so sorry to have you do this. I understand If you don't want to do it." I sigh.

"No! I want to. For her. Dude, I know you love her and she is your forever. I mean, at least one of us should have our happy-ending." he says walking with me back to the car.

"Okay, well we only have fourteen hours. But we still need to get everything we need. The candles, a large mirror, and the vampire teeth from whom of which bit the person. Chloe's teeth."

Austin gasped. "Chloe?" he almost yelled, "What was she doing here?"

"Never mind that!" I yell, "Let's go."

Furthermore, after we got everything we need for the spell, we are ready to head back home and it's really late. It's about four o'clock a.m. When we came to a stop, we were finally back and ready to do the spell.

Candles light all around the room.

One big mirror in front of Jade's damaged boy.

Last of all, Chloe's teeth. The ones that marked her neck.

"Hishka e' eminora. El hagina intropo in el a gora. Pe es ti emeda que lo tinamira." Austin said in trans of thought. Without, one peep of his eye, he finished the spell. I looked around waiting for Jade to move, but she didn't. Nothing happened. I go on my knees and start to cry.

"I thought it'd work." I said emotional. "You said it'd work!" I yelled getting overly frustrated. I look back at Jade and feel sorrow. But it's probably too late.

A sudden shake to the ground started, I started to smile. Maybe it's working. I hear thunder and then finally, Jade's body is pushed up with a sudden horribly loud gasp. "Jade!" I yelled running up to her. "You're safe!" Austin fell to the floor and more tears came running out of my eyes.

"You did it, Damon!" she yelled. "Is that... is that Austin?" she cried out.

I hesitated and frowned. "Yes."

"Did he die for me?" she yells back. I don't answer. But she knows it's true. "Damon, did Austin die for me? Tell me, yes or no!"

"Yes!" I finally yelled uncontrollably. "It was the only way..."

"Why?" she yells really loud, straining her voice, "Why would you let him die for me? You should have just let me die..." I frown and try to stay happy. But it's hard when she rather have died than have Austin die.
