I blink... "Minami?"

"Yes, Minami, you see, he is actually-"

"Wa- wa- wa- wait. Hold up here. I don't think we are talking about the same person here. I'm talking about Minami Kenjirō who is 3/4 ths of his own head taller than me, with hair that looks like a chicken nugget dipped in ketchup. Small nose, beautiful shinning brown eyes, a kind personality, always looking out for others, an amazing artist..."

"He is really good at art, I'm the one who told him that he should practice more!" Akihiko jumps in.

"Wait! You know Minami... but... how... what!" I start overthinking things, and clearly, Akihiko can tell I am. He puts a steady, reassuring hand on my fluttering one, and that helps calm me down.

"Yes, I know Minami, actually, this is the place he came from." I quiet down, wanting to hear more about Minami. "You see, he was originally sent on a mission years ago to scout and provide information about Ice... keep a watchful eye on their activities. Or rather be Mother's inside eye. Only this year did his mission change."

"What did it change to?' I'm almost afraid to ask.

Akihiko pauses, "well, it changed to... capturing Victor..."

"But then why is Niichan the one who got kidnapped?"

"It's because Minami was taking to long to complete the mission. In fact, there was a couple of times when he tried to abort and sabotage the mission, but Mother was getting impatient, and just went along and captured you and your Niichan so she could get Victor. Minami kept on giving Mother fake promises, but in the end, she saw through them, and just got the deed done in the best way she could considering that she does not have her own body to use."

"Wait... let me get this straight. My good friend Minami Kenjirō somehow knows you and has a chip implanted into his head which connects him to this lady, who may or may not actually be his mother, who is also hooked up to a computer, and she can control him through the chip to do missions? Oh and the fact that he is trying to resist her... for what reason, I don't know. Am I missing anything here? Cause I feel like I still have a lot of questions, and there are still a lot of gaps needed to be filled." I ask wildly.

I look at him, and he looks back... silent and hesitating...

I continue, "You mean to tell me that the boy I like is actually a spy... and was just trying to win me over so he could get more information about Ice. Do you mean to tell me-" my voice breaks, and a single tear leaks down my face, leaving a warm trickle.

I wipe the tear away and take in a deep breath "Do you mean to tell me that he doesn't care for me at all. That he just sees me as a mission."

Akihiko watches me in what seems like helpless horror, unsure of how to help me as more tears escape, and my vision blurs.

He clears his throat, "Well, if you want to know what I think..." I wipe the tears from my face, and face him, "I've known him for a long time, and I don't think he would confess to you unless he truly liked you." It looked like it pained him to say it.

"What would you know?" I say a little bit bitterly.

Akihiko laughs... humorlessly... wow this boy sure is full of happy thoughts. "Oh trust me, I've known him ever since we were kids. We were friends. Maybe even more..."
