Chapter Three

Jason's POV

Today I woke up to Lexie getting on top of me. “Hi.” I said. “What are you doing today?” “Going to see Luke.. You?” “Where is he?” “In the hospital.” “Why?” “He hurt his foot.. I have to use the bathroom.” She moved and I got up. “Can I go?” “You don't like Luke.” “But I like you.” I looked at her for a few seconds. “What was last night?” “What?” “Don't play with me Lexie.” “You said you missed me.. And I miss you.. We should be together since we miss each other.” “Ok.” “That's all?” “Yeah if this is what you want.. We can try again.” “Ok.” I'm over Lexie. I know it's only a matter of time until some other guy catches her eye and will be over again. I'm not putting everything into her anymore. I went and got in the shower and got dressed. When Lexie finished getting dressed we went to the hospital. When we got up to Luke's room we went in. “Hey.” We said hi to his wife and sons then I went over to him. “Hey man.” “Hey.” “How are you feeling?” I sat in the chair next to his bed. “Better than yesterday.” He exhaled. “How's the foot?” “It's actually not bothering me.. Just my damn blood pressure won't go down.” “Why?” “The doctor said it was the medicine that the other doctor gave me.” “Is he sure?” “She's is positive. She said if it goes down tonight and stays down I can go home tomorrow.” “Same doctor from yesterday?” “No.” He smirked. “Oh.” I shook my head and we went on talking about random stuff. Two hours into us talking there was a knock on the door. “Mr Bryan?” I knew that was Kristen. “Yes?” She came in and Bo started. “Who queen jellyfish.” His eyes were wide and she looked at him. “Unfortunately I'm not allowed to be right now.” She giggled and he smiled. “How are you feeling today?” She looked at Luke. “Better.” “You're, eating, sleeping, drinking and using the bathroom ok?” “Yeah.” “How's our ankle feeling?” “Ok, it's not even bothering me.” “Great. How's your blood pressure?” “High.” “Still?” “That's what they told me.” “Did they say that they were going to hook you up to an IV?” “No.” “Mhm.” She looked at the machine. “Mm give me a second mr Bryan.” “Ok.” She left and came back with another one. “Alright mr Bryan I'm going to take your vitals with this one.” “Ok.” She hooked him up. “Alright.” She mumbled and pressed a button and it started squeezing his arm. When it beeped she looked at it. “Your blood pressure is actually normal mr Bryan.” “She did it like two minutes ago with that one and it said it was high?” “Yeah that thing is broken.. I'm sure it's the one from the emergency room.” “Oh.. Ok.” “Do you know what that means?” “What?” “You get to go home!” “Really?” “Yeah, I'm sure it was just the machine giving you a high reading. I'll change your foot bandages then send you on your way.” She smiled. “Alright.” “Alright so give me a second and I'll be back.” “Ok.” On her way out she glanced at me. “Kristen.” I said. “Jason.. Hi!!” She stopped and smiled so I stood up. “Hey.” I went and hugged her. “Oh my gosh how are you?” She poked me. “I'm good how are you?” “Good, wow it's really you.” She messed with my chin hair then stepped back. “Y'all know each other mr Jason?” Bo asked. “Yeah we went to school together.” “That's awesome…” “Dr Mills we have a gunshot he needs emergency surgery!” A nurse said running in. “Someone will be in to see you mr Bryan.” She said then sprinted out.

Kristen's POV

After my long shift yesterday I was exhausted. I went home took a shower and called my mother. I told her that I'd pick the kids up after work today since I didn't have any surgeries to do. I was on my way out of Luke's room when I got a blast from the past. I happened to glance over and saw Jason, my highschool boyfriend sitting there. I really couldn't believe it was him. I was just about to catch up with him but a nurse came in and told me a guy needed help. I ran down to wait for him to come off of the ambulance but he died in rout and it was too late to try and resuscitate him. Unfortunately I had to sit down with the man's family and tell them what happened and they did not take it well. When I finished that I made sure the discharged Mr Bryan then I went home. I called my mother to pick up the kids but she decided to keep them. I was going to be bored but I let her have it and went home. I took a shower now I'm pouring myself a glass of wine. In the middle of my wine drinking I heard the doorbell. “I bet that's Shelby.” I put the glass down and went to the door. “Hey!!” She said walking past me. “Hey Shelby.. Want some wine?” “Where are the kids?” “With my mother.” “Then yes the hell I do.” “Someone's happy.” I laughed and walked pass her to the kitchen. “I'm getting a divorce!!” I stopped dead in my track and looked at her. “What the fuck?!” I kinda yelled. “He's a slimy piece of shit just like you said.” “What happened?” “I caught that asshole getting some head from our neighbor.” “Patricia?” “Yup.” “Oh my gosh I'm so sorry.” “Girl I'm not, I've been wanting to leave his ass for months.” “I know but.. Damn.” “We finna celebrate that prenup I made him sign!!” She walked past me to the kitchen. Even though Shelby was happy and I knew she really was but I still felt bad for the kids. “What about the kids?” “Well the oldest ones walked right in with me and were just as disgusted.” “Wait he was in your house?” “Yup!” “I am so sorry.” “Girl don't be, you know I was over his stupid ass. He can have her and I can have a man who actually adds to my life not takes from it. Fuck that guy.” “What did Marty say?” Marty is her oldest son. “He wanted to kick their asses but instead he told them that they had to leave.” “Mm Mm Mmm.” I shook my head. “He is a good for nothing dog, she can definitely have him. So how was your day my love?” “Oh it was alright, I mean.. A guy died in rout to the hospital and I had to tell his family but other than that I had a nice day.” “What about that sexy doctor thats been flirting with you?” “He's married.. Oh!” “What?” “I saw my ex boyfriend from high school.” “Really?” “Yeah he was with a patient I had treated.” “So what happened?” “We didn't even get to talk because I was told there was a gunshot victim.” “Uh oh.” “What?” “You know what they say.” She smirked. “What?” “You let someone go and if they come back it's meant to be.” “Yeaaa… no.” I shook my head. “What?” “He treated me like shit back then.” “Y'all were young, he's older you're older.. You both know what y'all want. It could work.” I stopped and looked at her for a few seconds. “I just saw him today and you're hooking us up.” “Hey..” She shrugged and sipped her wine. Shelby decided to stay over so we ended up talking and drinking another bottle of wine then calling it a night.
