Jason's POV

“Alright..” Kristen and I were at her house talking and laughing at random stuff and I was having a good time but I didn't feel like she was telling me anything. “So?” I looked at her. “What?” She kinda smiled. “So tell me about your love life.” “I don't have one.” “Really?” “Really, I have to love people through other people's love.” She frowned and I started laughing. “So you haven't dated since Dalton died?” “I have but it didn't work out.” “What happened?” “You want me to be honest with you?” She kinda smirked. “Yeah.” “He was.. It wasn't going to work. He was good at going down on me but he wasn't really good at anything else.” “Ooh..” “Not what you're thinking.” She laughed. “It's just that he had four daughters and he didn't know how to have a son. Before I even brought my son around him he was talking about his upbringing. Little boys don't cry, little boys don't show emotions, little boys don't do this and they don't do that etc etc. That's fine for you and your kids if that's what you're into but it's not ok for mine. When I told him that he was mad and proceeded to tell me that my son would be soft. I told him his upbringing raised serial killers and people who shot up schools and he was pissy about it but I didn't care. I felt like he was already hell bent on being a dick to my son before he even met him and that didn't work for me. So I told him that our relationship would work better if we kept our kids out of it and at first that worked just fine.” “But?” “But then he started forcing his kids on me. Saying shit like ‘my girls need to know and like you if we're going to be together.’ I told him again that we should keep the kids out of it but he was hellbent on his kids knowing me.” I shook my head. “So one day out of the blue he was like we should do something with the kids. He was like let's take the kids to the park and have a family day. I was like cool he's involving my son, that's nice. So I was like cool I'll just pick up my son and we can do this. This motherfucker was like ‘why are you getting him?’ I was like you said ‘family’ my son is my family or did you forget that? He started making excuses like ‘oh he just hasn't been around the girls and I didn't..’ I was like he's really making excuses to not be around my kids so I was like it's over buddy.” “Wow when was this?” “Before Cassie was born. He still texts me with the bullshit.” She shrugged and sipped her tea. “So you're not even talking to anyone?” “Nah I don't have time to waste talking to people.” “Really?” “Yeah Jason.” She exhaled and stood up. “Why?” “My husband died.. Like he was 29 and he died.. That just showed me that life is too short for people and their shit. If you want to talk, I'll be your friend but what I'm not going to do is say we're ‘talking’ when we're supposed to be dating. Either we're together or we're not. I don't have time for this new bullshit that old people have adapted to.” She went to the sink and poured out her tea. “Wow.” I kinda laughed. “What?” She looked at me. “Nothing.” “I mean I know it sounds direct but I just don't have time for people and their shit. They want to take breaks and they need space.. Or they just need time to think. No, either we work it out together or you go your way and I'll go mine. Not some ‘oh I need space to think’ then you go fuck everyone and get aids then wanna come back to me. No, bitch I don't take breaks because I don't get tired.” I died laughing. “Kevin Gates? Really?” “Yeah.” She was looking at me with a blank look and it was funny. “As funny as you're making it out to sound I know you're serious and I agree. Although.. I can't help but wonder what if you're the party that needs space?” “I just told you..” I started laughing. “I'm just saying what if you did get tired.” “The rare chance that happens I'm going to dump the person.” “What?” I was dying laughing. “Because obviously you're making me feel like I'm not sure about us and I don't have time for that.” She shrugged. “So what do you want?” “A man that’s going to say fuck everything and fall in love with me. None of that what will my friends say? What will they think? What's going to happen? bullshit. Know that I'm in love with you the exact same way and fuck the people who don't like it.” “I see.” “I probably won't find that because nowadays people needs side bitches.” She shrugged and I started laughing. “Not all guys.” “Since you know so many point one of them in my direction.” “I'm gonna point myself in your direction.” “Subtle.” She laughed. “It wasn't meant to be.” “Jason stop it.” “No, we're dating.” “No we're not.” She looked shocked but kept laughing. “Yes we are.” “No we're not.” She was still laughing and it made me laugh. “You sound like a crazy person.” “Mhm you are my girlfriend.” “Stop it.” She frowned. “I know why you have reservations, it's sweet tart isn't it? We'll just get rid of her.” I took out my phone and went to Lexie's name. “Alright.” I pulled up the text messages and Kristen came and stood next to me. “Hey it's over ✌.” I pressed send. “JASON!!” “What?” “You really sent that!!” “Old well.” “Oh my gosh.” She started laughing. “I'm not crazy, I was just play..” My phone started ringing. “That's tart.” She laughed and I looked at my phone, it was Lexie. “Ugh.” “You may as well answer and let her know that you were joking, I'll be quiet.” “Mhm.” I answered the phone. “Hello?” “Fuck you Jason!” “Whatever Lexie.” “You're such a dick!” “And what are you?” “What?!” “I mean you're calling me names you need to call yourself some.” “Fuck you!” She hung up and I sat the phone down. “She was upset huh?” “Yeah but I have a feeling she'll be fine.” Kristen laughed and poured herself a glass of wine.
