Chapter Seven

One week later

Kristen's POV

Raul, Shelby, Miguel and I got back from Abu Dhabi yesterday and being home was the last thing I wanted. “Ugh.” Today Raul called and said that he wanted to get brunch so I texted Shelby, and Miguel to come. I got to the restaurant early like usual so I decided to get on Instagram and post a funny video. When I was finished I just sat there and looked around. While I was sitting at the table Jason sat in front of me. “Hey pretty.” He said. “Hi Jason!” I was actually Happy to see him. “What are you doing sitting alone?” “I'm just waiting for my friends.” “Oh.” “What are you doing here?” “I had a date but she didn't show up.” “I'm sorry, feel free to have brunch with my friends and I. We'd love to have you.” “Really?” “Of course we..” “Heeey!!” Miguel said sitting next to me. “Hey Miguel.” “Hey baby, who is our friend?” He said hugging me. “This is Jason, Jason this is my best friend Miguel.” “Nice to meet you.” “It is nice to meet you too Jason.” They shook hands. “I was just telling Jason that we'd love to have him join us for brunch.” “Is he part of the good for nothings?” “No.” “Then yes we would!!” He looked at Jason. “Who are the good for nothings?” Jason kinda laughed. “A group of stupid ass people she used to be friends with.. They walked out on her when her husband died.” “What?” “Yes.. So fuck those guys.” “Who?” “Long story.” I shook my head. “Hello, it's me.” Raul said coming over. “Hey babe.” I said and he sat down next to Jason.” “Jason this is Raul, my bestie. Ra that's my friend Jason.” “Hey nice to meet you.” They shook hands. “You too.” Raul let his hand go and looked at him. “So you're apart of the Brady bunch?” “No Ra!” I laughed. “Oh.. Ok then.” “First the good for nothings, now the Brady bunch. There's some serious hate going on here.” “It was a mess Jason.” Raul said. “Heey babies!!” Shelby said coming over. “Hey.” We all spoke to her. “Hold up..” She looked at Jason. “Jason this is shelby, Shelby this is Jason.” “Nice to meet you.” “You too.” “No he isn't apart of the good for nothings.” “Oh.” She sat down in the last chair. “Wait that's the guy you were face timing in Abu Dhabi.” She said and they all looked at him. “Yes it is!!” Ra said. “Ok don't gawk at him.” They were looking at him. “Fine.” Raul said and I shook my head. “So what did y'all want to talk about?” I asked. “Since you have another week off I was thinking that we should go somewhere else.” Raul said. “Where?” Shelby asked. “Somewhere we haven't been before.” I added. “Yeah..” Miguel agreed. “We've all never been to Iceland.” Raul suggested. “I don't have the kids for another week and weekend so I'm good with it.” I said. “Let me call my sister and see if she'll take the kids.. I'm gonna use the whole divorce thing.” She said walking away. “The divorce thing?” Jason asked.  “Yeah, she’s getting a divorce because her husband wasn't shit.” Miguel said. “You mean he ain't shit.” I corrected. “True.” Raul laughed and Shelby came back. “So?” “We're good to go!” She said sitting down. “So just like that y'all are going on a trip?” “Yeah.. Jealous?” I smiled. “Yes.” He said and we started laughing. We all ordered what we wanted then went on talking and laughing.

Jason's POV

Today Lexie and I were supposed to have lunch but she didn't show up. This was her M.O, she lies then cheats. I guess there's already a new guy because now she isn't showing up for our dates. I was on my way out of the restaurant when I spotted Kristen through the restaurant's window. I decided to go say hi and now I am having lunch with her and her friends. Surprisingly I was having a good time and they all were extremely funny together. After lunch was over Kristen and her friends went their separate ways so I walked her to her truck. “So.” I started and she looked at me. “What?” “What are you doing tonight?” “We're not leaving until tomorrow so I'll probably just hang out in the house.” “As amazing as that sounds you could come to my house and hang out with me.” “Really?” “Yeah.. I'm gonna have some friends over so I don't see why not.” “Ok.” She smiled and it showed her dimples. “Make sure you bring those too.” “What?” “Those dimples.” She blushed and looked away. “Stop it.” “So be there at 7?” “Ok text me your address and I'll bring wine?” “No.. Just bring yourself.” I laughed. “Beer?” I looked at her for a few seconds. “Beer is good.” “Ok.. And I'll bring cookies!!” She smiled and walked over to her car. “Cookies?” I mumbled and went over to her. “Cookies?” “Yeah.” “I don't think we need cookies.” “People like cookies Jason.” She said opening the door. “I.. Beer and cookies?” “Yes.” She looked at me and tapped my nose. “Um..” “So see you at 7?” “Yeah..” I was still concerned about the cookies. “Ok!” She hugged me and messed with my chin hair then got in her car.  “Ok.” I mumble and waved at her. After she pulled off I left and went home too. I invited the guys over and texted Kristen my address. After she said that she'd see me at 7 I headed to the market. I picked up a bunch of stuff then went home and cooked on the grill.
