"Why are you avoiding me?"
I finally found the courage to ask him.
It was after classes,
The hallways nearly empty.

He didn't face me,
The usual action he'd do whenever I got close to him.
It's like my presence pained him,
And I couldn't understand why.

"I know that we just met but-,"
I stop myself from finishing those words.
Why did it sound wrong?
But we indeed had just met and yet-

"Have you realized it now?" He speaks up.
My eyes finally turn to meet his,
Cold, distant, and mournful.

"Why it hurts me to see you..." He finishes.
And, as if the world were abruptly placed on my shoulders-
The painful beating of my heart reminds me,
Of a past meant to be forgotten.
