-Kai's POV-
I slowly woke up, my eyes squinting as the sun shined through the trees and summer leaves. I got off the tree that supported my back, rubbing my eyes and letting my hair stay down. I looked over at Prim, watching her sleep as I slowly stood up. Smiling softly at her, I closed my eyes as I began to put up my somewhat long hair. I grabbed my rubber band off of my wrist, making sure to wrap it around my hair to make it secure. Pulling it to make it tight, I slowly let my smile fade, opening my eyes and seeing that she woke up.
"Oh, you're awake," I said to her, my eyes barely widened. She just nodded her head, holding something small close to her heart. "What are you holding," I asked her nicely, curious to know what she held near her. She blushed and held it behind her, looking away from me and holding whatever it was tightly. Now this sparked my curiosity even more, and I walked over to her, saying, "Come on, Primm, just show me what you're holding." She shook her head violently, still blushing but now standing up and walking away from me.
Was she scared? I have no idea. But she looked it even if she tried to deny it. I walked over to her, my curiosity refusing to fade away. She glared at me, holding like what seemed to be a doll to her chest tightly. I gave her a confused look, holding my hand out to her. Not surprising to me that she hit it away, holding that doll thing like it was her life.
I sighed, accepting my defeat and walked away from her. I had a feeling she still didn't trust me, and I don't blame her. We meet not too long ago, and I normally leave people before 6 hours of me meeting them. And I can understand that she just wants to keep her secrets to herself.
I knelt down next to the once burning fire. Examining the embers, I decided to use some of the collected firewood to start up a new fire. It felt like an eternity before the woman who was named after a flower to come sit down next to the fire. And I didn't care at the moment that she used the fire to put space between herself and I.
What did surprise me was that she took out her journal and had written something down as I had tended to the growing embers. She had dropped it next to me before she had sat down. I eyed her curiously, seeing that she had red puffy eyes. My own eyes widened slightly as I read what she had written in her journal.
The reason why I didn't give you the wolf doll was because it's very precious to me... You see, it had belonged to my little brother... But he died in the place that I had escaped from... And what sucks is that they want me back, but it's because of my... My curse... They think it's a scientific weapon, but it causes me so much pain all the time... They can never understand how much they have damaged me...
I looked up at her and saw her holding the doll close to her, small tears running down her reddened cheeks. "I'm sorry for earlier... I had no idea," I said as apologetically as I could. "How old was he... When your brother died...?" She held up both of her hands and showed me the number that shocked me even more.
'That poor kid was only six...' I had tears welling up in my eyes, the shock and sadness showing clearly in my facial expression. Without me noticing, she had held me in her arms, still crying in the process. We let each other go, looking at the ground for a while. I looked over at Prim, her eyes still red and puffy. "Hey Prim," I started out, "You've told me a lot about yourself and your past, but not once did you ever ask me about mine. Would you like to know anything about it?" She widened her eyes slightly, but hesitated to reach for her bag that contained her only way to speak. Once she grabbed her journal and pencil, she wrote down what was flowing in her mind. She erased and reworded some of her phrases to make them just right. She handed me her journal and I read it slowly:
I haven't even touched the surface of what happened to me... However, I did share some of my vulnerability to you, both with my words and my, um... you know. But personally, share what you feel like is important to say. Whatever you feel like needs to get off your chest. But don't say what may hurt too much.
I read her journal entry and closed my eyes, nodding my head in the process. "Alright..." I looked up at the sky, watching as the clouds rolled across the pale blue sky.
"The rumors of my blood aren't completely true, but they're not completely false either. Ours was a blood that possessed a supernatural sixth sense that allowed us to harness and master the leftover energy within the human body, using it to charge up attacks, make us levitate, and just about anything else," I looked at her, her face showing that she was intrigued with what I was saying. My smile dissolved as I continued with my story, "However, we used to be a peaceful race, until the invasion of men with machines came and burned down and destroyed my- I mean, the people and the rich history that was developed there," I coughed a tad bit, but I hope she didn't catch onto my mistake. She looked at my with curiosity, almost begging me to continue with met violet eyes. "It was only after the destruction that we became very wary and hesitant towards the people outside our race. I am... well, should say WAS... the chief's only child and son, Kai II. I never knew my mother, and my father was, well, never really there for me. My mother died from childbirth, and my father acted as though I was nothing but something that was taking up space. He never loved me, and he never will. I found out when I was only 5 that my father would never be able to have that feeling that I desired... I grew up without friends, without family... and I was left to wander the halls for the chief's large home," I said as my hair covered my eyes, pulling my knees to my chest. "The few that are left of us are trying desperately to repopulate our blood, but they aren't having too much success. The elders claim that if and when I return to claim my title of chief, that order would be restored. However," I looked at her, my eyes showing sadness and pain, "I don't want to go back... and if I don't... we'll die out, and become relics of the past... if I go back, I'm never to leave, and I'm to help rebuild what became lost," I finished my story, a stray tear falling from my eye. She wiped it away and stroked my cheek before writting in her journal.
I understand that... that horrivle pain and burden that you carry... only, mine is different. Im wanted by tbhe government because of my blood. If I use my powers too much, I could die. But I can throw up a lightining and fire combination and use those powers separately. It's because the same government that wants me, was the one that did this to me... and they also made me mute. They injected their god-awful formulas into my body before I was able to escape. And what makes me even more "special" to them is that I'm the ONLY subject that they did this to and live to tell the tale.
This made my eyes widen more than before as I looked at her, her hands lightly touching their opposite arms. She looked at me, her eyes slightly dull. "I... thank you for sharing that with me, Prim," I said sincerely as I handed her her journal. She nodded her head and put away her journal, her hair partially covering her eyes.
"Wanna go to a city or something...? We may need supplies like bandages and rubbing alcohol," I asked her as I stood up, dusting off my pants and reaching to help her up. She nodded her head, her face looking a little more normal now, and I couldn't help but smile as she put her hand in mine. "Then we should get going, huh," I tell her, smiling as she rolls her eyes at me, making sure she has all her belongings. And with that we headed off to the closest city near us, walking quietly through the forest and side by side.
