I groan. Why the heck does my head hurt so much? I thought I was shot in the stomach not the head.

I hear the steady beating of the heart monitor. I don't even bother trying to open my eyes because I know that I'm not going to be able to see anything anyway.

"Are you awake, darlin'?" Liam asks.

I turn my head in his direction, he must be siting at my bedside.

  "Yeah." I mumble.

  "Hello?" An unfamiliar voice calls.

  "Yes, Doctor?" Liam responds.

"Is she awake?" The Doctor asks.

"Yeah, I'm awake." I answer for Liam.

I hear the Doctor walk over to the bed.

"Have you opened your eyes yet?" He asks.

I shake my head and respond, "It's not worth it, there's nothing to see anyway."

"Miss, you might want to change your mind."

I sigh, I guess I will. I slowly open my eyes and all I see is black but a small strip of yellow looking light. Why can I even see anything?

  "What?" I gasp.

"Would you like to do the honors, Mr. Payne?" I hear the Doctor ask.

  "Sure." Liam replies.

I hear him stand and I feel his gentle hands on my face. Slowly he unwraps something that was covering my eyes.

Suddenly bright light fills the room and I quickly cover my face with my hands.

"What's happening? Why is it so bright?" I ask, starting panic.

"I'll turn the lights off." The Doctor says. I hear him walk away and then he says, "I'll leave you two alone for a little bit and then I will be back to check her eyes."

The door closes and Liam sighs softly. I feel him gently take my hands from my face and I keep my eyes shut tightly.

"Will you please open your eyes for me?" He asks in a soft whisper.

I bite my lip as I slowly open my eyes, this time it's a little darker.

My eyes fall to the hands that hold mine, the long fingers grasp mine in a tight, reassuring grip. My eyes trail up his arms, they look strong and warm. A tight white tank top shows off the man's toned chest and stomach. I look up to the man's face, a worried frown is set upon his handsome features, his brown eyes sparkle with emotion.

I reach up and cup his check, studying his face, soft brown eyes, a little bit of stubble grows above his lip and on his chin, his hair is a dark brunette and it stands up above his forehead.

He leans into my touch. "L-Liam? Is that you?" I stutter.

He smiles and nods, "It's me Cassie, it's me."

  "Oh my god!" I exclaim.

I dive into his arms and he holds me in a tight hug.

"OW!" I gasp. "Not so tight, I'm still recovering from a gun shot wound."

"Sorry." He says softly and continues to hold me in his arms.

"I can see you! I can see everything! Why is this?" I ask.

"When they brought you in, they looked at you records and when they took you into surgery to take the bullet out, they also fixed your eyes. I don't know what they did, they just told me that they repaired your eyes." He says as he slowly pulls away. He looks at my face, "Did you know that you have beautiful brown eyes?"

I smile at him and press my lips to his.

"I love you so much Liam." I murmur against his lips.
