Bailey’s POV:
We started to circle around the table so we could sing Happy Birthday, to Hayley and Zach.
Jeff started lighting the candles on the cake.
On one side of the cake was all girly, and the other one looked like it was for a boy.
I stood at the end of the table and Cameron stood beside me.
“What’d you get for their presents?” I whispered to him.
“It’s a surprise.” He said and bit his lip.
“Mmm.” I nodded.
We all started singing Happy Birthday, and when we were finished they both blew out their candles.
“Let’s dig in!” Jessica said, grabbing a cake cutter and cutting into the cake.
“Do you want to eat in the other room with me?”
“Sure.”
I grabbed two plates, with a piece of chocolate cake, and vanilla ice cream, and followed Cameron into the living room.
Jessica’s POV:
While I was cutting cake, my sister came up to me, “Can I talk to you please?”
“Sure. Jeff can you finish cutting the cake please?”
Sandra and I stepped outside and sat at the table on the patio.
“What’s up?”
“I was wondering about the girl, Bailey.”
“What about her?”
“Who is she? ‘Cause she seems really close with your kids.”
“Cameron had seen her at the bus station a few months ago, and talked to her. She ran away from her foster home.” Sandra listens to me, occasionally nodding her head.
“He told her she could stay for a few nights. Of course, I was iffy about it; however she seemed really nice and sweet. And Cameron seemed really concerned about her. A few nights after she was here, Cameron had told me that the reason she ran away from her foster home, was because her foster mom had been abusing her.” Sandra gasps.
“That’s terrible.”
“Yeah, I felt terrible for her, and Jeff and I have enough room for her to stay. But a couple weeks ago, I had gotten a call telling me that we had to take her back to court because her foster my wanted her back.”
I continued telling her what happened when we were in Arizona, and the adoption.
“When are going to officially adopt her?”
“We’re hoping soon.”
“You aren’t worried about Cameron or Toby having a relationship with Bailey?”
“Well yeah. But it’s not like they’re blood related. If they were to break up now that may be a problem.”
“Yeah, I would just let it happen, if I was in your position. They’re at that age when they should be mature about things. But I don’t know about Cameron, he is a teenage boy.” We both laugh.
Cameron’s POV:
Bailey and I are in the living room eating cake and watching TV.
Surprisingly we are the only ones in here. Which I don’t mind at all. I feel like Bailey and I have grown closer, especially now that Tyler’s out of the subject.
