"Don't be ridiculous. Why would they pretend to be my parents if I'm not their child. Anyway, I can remember being with them far longer than I care to. My third birthday was proof of that," Amanda said as she went over to the coffee machine to make them Cappuccino's.

"Can you remember anything before that?" Shaun asked.

"Stop trying to suck ideas from your thumb. No one that I know of, can remember that far back. No, I can not remember anything before that. All I know is that I was really happy and Nana was always around to tuck me in. I only remember my third birthday because I got my powers and I ended up in hospital," Amanda said.

"Okay, I'll drop it, but I was not pulling ideas from my thumb. I'm just going according to the facts here. They are not mentioned in this book and yet everyone else is. Every person that is deceased has a red X under their names, but you and Jenna have a red line from this woman's name to yours. Either they adopted you or something else happened and I'm not trying to upset you, but what if they took you from them. Wait, scratch that. Your Nana would have taken you back to your real parents if she knew about you being taken illegally.

"Honey, this just adds up to one thing and my brain won't let go of the fact that they can't be your real parents if they are not listed here. If you can come up with any other idea, I'm open to listening. Anything that will reroute my thinking," Shaun said.

She sighed as she set the cups down on next to the papers. "I can't think of anything either, but the thought of them not being my parents is to distressing right now. Fare enough, she never acted like a mother, but she's the only one I had for over twenty eight years. What's worse is that I can't remember her being pregnant with Jenna either."-She dropped into the chair, looking like her world just ended.-"Why would they lie to us? They had over twenty years to tell us, or just mention it in passing. When Nana died or when Melinda passed and she ranted about me killing her, she could have slipped that small fact in there as well, just to make me feel worse."

"Maybe she did and you were too distraught about loosing Melinda."-He waved his hands when her head shot up.-"I'm just saying, it could be easily missed in your grief, if she mentioned it. The only way to know for sure is to confront her. Tell her you know that she lied to you all these years about being your mother. Also mention that you found out that she created-"

"But she didn't, I did!" Amanda shouted.

"Honey, all I'm saying is that you can mention it and see what she said. For all we know she might come clean about everything that happened and why she is so negative towards you. There's just so many things that do not add up. Like, why you only got sick when your powers manifested; Why you could created your sister, but couldn't duplicate the seed without seeing the spell first; Why there names are not listed and yours is linked to another woman and why the coven kicked her out and bound her if she didn't do anything wrong, or you for that matter.

"I wish the answers were written down for us, so we wouldn't have to 'pull ideas out of our thumbs',"-he said using finger quotes-"but it's not, so we can only assume the truth, until we get the answers directly from a source. Unfortunately, that means bending the truth to get the truth."

"Fine,"-she sighed.-"I have dinner with them on Sunday evening, but I don't want to do it in front of Jenna. I'll speak to them while she is at the academy on Monday."-She bit on her thumb nail and then rubbed her hands together.-"Uhm, would you mind coming with me? She is not a very nice person when she gets called out on something," Amanda asked.

Shaun took her hands in his and brought them up to his lips. He kissed them both and nodded. "I wouldn't let you go by yourself, even if you insisted. I know you feel like they are your parents, but something feels off about them. I doubt will be able to stop the rage if something had to happen to you. Not this time," he said.

She smiled shyly and slid from her seat. "I think I'll go have a bath and get some sleep. Please do not stay in that loop the whole night again. I want to be out of here early tomorrow." She leaned closer and kissed his cheek, before walking out of the kitchen.

She looked back at him as she took the first step and his heart jumped as her cheeks flushed and she bit down on her lip. He was out of his chair and in front of her before she could take another step.

"Every damn time you do that, I can't think of anything other than that first kiss," he said.

Shaun raised his hand to her cheek and felt its warmth against his skin. He leaned down and brushed his lips against hers, waiting for her to stop him, hoping she would not.

She reached up and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. His heart beat so loudly that he couldn't hear himself breathing. Lily fragrant air filled his lungs with each breath and the taste of coffee still lingered on her tongue. He could feel every curve of her body, pressed against his as he tasted the skin along her jaw and down her neck.

"She is unclaimed! We must have her!"

His hands shook as he fought the urge to mark her as his. His hand hit the wall behind Amanda when he felt his wings trying to break free.

"Stop me. Please." he begged. "Please help me! You have to stop me, now!"

"Amanda, you need to stop him, before you get hurt. Do it now!" He heard Luke shouting.

A loud growl erupted from his chest and then he felt a searing pain, before he went flying through the air. For a full minute he was unable to control his muscles as he lay spasming like a fish out of water on the floor.

When it stopped, he pulled himself to the door and leaned against it.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what's happening to me. I'll be outside if you need me," he said and then pulled himself up against the door. "I hope you can forgive me," he said before walking out of the house.
