A Week Later

(Ja’Ciah Pov)

Everybody was getting everything read for the funeral that was going on tomorrow. The people who was taking it the hardest was Yanna and EJ. I hated seeing Yanna the way she was the week before. I was slowly losing the person that I started to love. Ever since we brought EJ back with us she started going back to her old self. She comes downstairs, cooks, and even laughs. Even though that I couldn’t be the one to do that for her, I’m glad I helped with the process.

Ever since Yanna was away I was trying to find a way to get back with her. I’m going to do everything I can to get her back.

“I think that we should wear his favorite colors to the funeral.” Yanna told us. “I would also like to say a few words before they bury him; I can only do that with EJ up there with me.”

“That’s a good idea.” Veah told her.

“What should the headstone say?” Nique asked her.

“In Loving Memory of Elijah Smith, loving friend and adored father you will be missed. Also put his dates on there.” Yanna said. After everything was set for the funeral we decided on watching movies.

“Let me go put Jo-Jo to bed and I’ll be down.” I told them.

“I’ll go with you cuz I have to put EJ down too.” Yanna said. We walked upstairs to Elijah room and laid them down in the bunk beds. I gave Jo-Jo a kiss on the forehead and left out the room.

“Can I talk to you for a minute Ciah?”

“Yeah.” We walked into her room and sat on the bed.

“I just wanted to say thank you for being here when I needed you it means a lot to me. Even though you didn’t have to do it you did. I’m glad you were there for me.”

“I always be there when you need me, you don’t have to ask that of me. Look after the funeral if you’re up to it can we talk?”

“Yea.” We walked downstairs were everybody was at and watched movies until we fell asleep.

The Next Morning

We all got up so we can get dressed and arrive at the funeral. I got up and took Jo-Jo and EJ a bath. I put Jo-Jo on a gray button up shirt with some black slacks and his gray shoes. EJ had on a black button up shirt with gray slacks and his black shoes. I put on a black and gray plaid shirt with some black slacks with my gray Gucci shoes. Everybody was ready except for Yanna. When she did come down she had on a gray dress with a black blazer and her Gucci red bottoms. We all piled into the limo. The priest talked about how Big E was loved and will be well missed.

He also talked about forgiveness. “We have someone that would like to speak about him today.” Yanna and EJ walked up there.

“Hi everybody! Well I would just like to say that Elijah meant a lot to me. I met him when I was 14 that were when my parents were still alive. Elijah was friends with my brother even though he was a couple of years older than him. Since I met him he always treated me like his daughter. When my parents died he stepped up to the plate as the dad role in my life as same as my brother. The thing about it though was that he didn’t have to do it, but he did. He had such a big heart. His world revolved around me and EJ. When we were out in public and people asked was I his daughter he would tell them yea. Even though that people could tell that we weren’t related. Elijah meant everything to me. When I needed that shoulder to cry on he was there. When I needed someone to hold me he was there. Even when I needed someone to help me with the stage of boys he was there, scaring them away sometimes. Elijah was a big part of my life. I still can’t even wrap my head around the idea that he is gone, but I have my little brother EJ to help me with that. When I need just a reminder of him I’ll turn to him. I always remember the first time we laughed together, the first time he wiped my tears, and every time he took care of me when I was sick. He’ll always be in my heart. I love you daddy.” She walked down the steps, and I met her halfway. I wrapped my arms around her and let her cry on me.

We went out to the burial site, and watched them lower him into the grown. It seemed that every time they lowered him lower she cried harder. When they finally got him in the ground everyone started to leave. Yanna stayed standing there until he was fully covered. Once they got him covered she started walking away. “Do you still want to talk?”

“Yea, where do you want to talk at?”

“Your house.”

“Okay.” We got in the car and drove off to my house. We pulled up to the house and got out. We went into the front room and sat down.

“Look Yanna I’m not going to beat around the bush. I want you back. I’m sorry about what happened. I didn’t think that it would be such a big deal. I really do love you and want to be with you babe please give me another chance. Them months you was away been hell. Just give me another chance I promise that I won’t mess this up.” I begged her.

“Show me how much you missed me.” I went over to her and picked her up. I carried her to my room and made love to her over and over. I finally got my girl back and I wasn’t giving her up for nothing.
