Chapter 15

The lady made us stand up and turn our backs to her and the bodies as she began explaining and answering all our burning questions.

"Firstly and and as you already know I'm not with the EYE" she says as I hear something snap making me flinch.
"What about the robot?" Phoenix says curiously
"I saved his life once and this was his way of repaying me" she says gravely
"By dying?" I ask in disbelief "Is that what's gonna happen to us when you decide that we've served our purpose?" I ask angrily and turning to face her but instantly regret it when I saw that she was gutting and tearing the limbs off the monsters. I quickly turn back around and try my best not to vomit, the black blood stained the tattered carpet and had an unpleasant smell.
"He's a robot" she says unemotionally
"So who are you with and why do you need us?" Phoenix asked as I took in deep breaths.
"I am a bounty hunter and I'm trying to get back what that stupid Bronze-Bot stole"
"Alex" I say softly
"Yup"the lady says as I hear a loud crunch followed by a low gurgling sound
"Oh my God" I whisper to myself and feel hot, sticky tears roll down my dirty cheeks
"I'm done now" the lady says and I turn back around forcing myself to keep my eyes open so I can fully see what this woman was capable of and what I was getting myself pulled into. The lady had turned the bodies of the monsters inside out, had black covering her hands all the way to her elbows and was holding an orb in her hand.

"Oh Lord" I say looking at the bodies and doubling over partly because of the stench and partly because of how calm the woman was when she was tearing them apart. There was a glint of peace and almost happiness in her eyes as she broke their bodies, it reminded me of the sick satisfaction I saw in the robot's eyes when he played with Kerrie's amputated fingers.

The lady patted my back gently which took me by surprise because of how tender the gesture was but she spoiled the moment when she yanked a few strands of my hair out before she did the same to Phoenix.

"Yeoouch" I shriek but Phoenix makes no sound "Why?" I ask her touching the foul smelling blood that leaked down my neck and into my shirt, I was too disgusted by the mutilated bodies to even care that I smelled.

"I'm gonna burn the bodies and since they aren't actually us we have to leave traces of ourselves behind" she said as she takes out a bottle of green liquid and throws all our hair into it before crushing the bottle in her fist and letting it seep all over the corpses.

"So what now?" Phoenix asks

"We get you to pay your debt to the ferryman" she answers

"Wait" I say cutting in "Why do you need us?"

"The orb you have isn't ordinary and I'm sure you know that by now" she said as she pulled out a lighter from her back pocket and lit the liquid on fire which made Phoenix and I stumble away while she just stared into the flames that ate the monsters "When I found you I hoped you had what he stole but he's smarter than what people gave him credit for but with that orb of his we can see his memories using a machine"

"Why can't you just take the orb and do it yourself?" Phoenix asks

"Because that bag of bolts gave it to her and only she can see!" She said finally turning away from the flames

"Where's the others?" I ask suddenly remembering Felix and Kerrie

"Others?" She echoes raising an eyebrow

"Felix and Kerrie?" I say hoping that they were safe

"Oh" she says her eyes widening in realisation "He saw the orb so he had to get a memory wipe"

"Oh" I say nodding my head to myself 'So he won't remember us?" I ask holding back tears

She shakes her head solemnly "He'll remember you just not what happened since your run in with Alex and he's in a

deep sleep now and he won't wake till someone says the password" she finishes and I nod slightly relieved at this new revelation.

"Kerrie?" Phoenix asks

"Don't know" she said "Brutus took care of her"

"Brutus?" I ask

"Gold-Bot" she simply says and I nod my head and feel tears leak down my face as I wondered what horrible things could have happened to her.

"Why should we help you?" Phoenix asks staring into her into her emerald eyes

"Because if you do I'm able to wipe your memory of everything that happened and you as well as your friends can go back to your regular life"

I nod and make up my mind that I have to help her so that everything can go back to normal and I'm pretty sure Phoenix came to the same conclusion.

"What about me?" Phoenix ask

"What about you?" The lady says confused

"I saw the orb" he says angrily

"There's someone that wants to see you and this is me killing two birds with one stone" she simply says as she continues speaking "But we gotta go before the EYE finds us" she says as she takes the candle form the table and holds it out in front of her as she walked int he darkness and we followed behind her further down the corridor. The light from the orb I had was still glowing through the thick material of my jacket and I was grateful for the extra light.

"What's your name?" Phoenix asks her and I only now realise that she didn't tell us her name after all the explaining she did.
