Chapter 7

I wake up and stare at the ceiling, the white ceiling, so plain and insignificant, I wish I could become a part of it and get rid of my pounding head ache.Felix brought me home earlier, which also happens to be his and Phoenix's.

I get out of bed and walk into the living room to find Phoenix, Felix and Kerri (our bronze-bot house cleaner) engrossed in a conversation that ceases the moment they see me. Kerri clears her throat.

"The EYE wanted to talk to you about some orb they think you have" says Felix " I told them you don't have any and to come back in the morning cause you got work to do"

I was surprised when he said that, I didn't think that I'd need to work tonight considering what happened, I mean I guess I have to because people die everyday.

The EYE are an organisation that make sure everything is in order, they're the equivalent of the FBI and CIA.

I couldn't help but wonder what was so special about this case because Alex wasn't the first robot to do that to himself.

Oh crap I wasn't going to keep it but why would they go through such measures for a Bronze-Bot?, they're considered useless by the EYES and everyone with athourity.

"That's if you're feeling OK and you wanna do it tonight, yeah? Phoenix adds quickly when I didn't respond.

"No no" I reply to quickly "Its alright I don't mind" I say smiling a bit to show that I meant it.

"Great" Kerri says in a way that lacks emotion "I have your assignment I left it in your room when I was helping Felix move you" she says.

I nod my head and walk into my room. Like she said the file was on my desk. I grab it along with a jacket and walk back into the living room.

"Well" I say looking at them "I'm going to go then"

"Not like that" Kerri says after giving me a quick once over and arranging her child like features into a look of dissaproval "Those clothes are wet"

I roll my eyes at her but nonetheless go into my room to change into dry jeans and a shirt. I examine my wet jacket and decide against wearing it before pulling out the orb from the pocket.

It was a bright blue in colour, like Amanda's soul only it had markings on it. I move towards my desk lamp and switch it on, holding the orb close to my face in order to decipher the engravings. They seem to shimmer and sparkle in the light. They're not supposed to do that . I lean down closer to it.

"Knock Knock" says Felix before barging into the room, I gasp in surprise and quickly step back clenching the orb in my fist hiding it behind my back.

I need to get a lock on that door

"Yes?" I ask innocently

"Early birthday present" he says and chucks a hurriedly wrapped package at me which was about as big as my fist. That caught me by surprise and I catch it with one hand awkwardly but still am able to hide the orb.

Felix sees this and laughs. "Something wrong with your arm?"

"Nope"I reply hastily stuffing my hand with the orb into my pocket  "So, whats in it anyways?"

"Open it "

I rip off the white bow stuck to the package and tear off the red wrapping paper to reveal a hearing aid, designed like an earring cuff.

"Is this a translator?" I ask already falling in love with it

"Mhm and in English" He replies smugly

I pull him into a bear hug and put the hearing aid in my front pocket that also holds the orb. 

" I was wearing the old one when you brought me home, I think it fell off in my sleep" I admit sheepishly

"No worries" He says cheerily "You can keep it if you like"

"No" I say squeezing his shoulders lightly "You've already done so much"

"Not enough for you though" he says smiling

I smile in return and stare into his eyes, they seem so friendly and trusting. In that moment I decide to tell him about the orb.

"Hey I need to tell you something important" I say uncertainly " I have-"

A loud tapping sound cut me off

"Guys get your butts out here right now!" Phoenix squeaked softly from the living room "Someone's breaking down the damn door"

Felix and I rush into the living in a panic

A series of sharp knocks sound from behind the front door and a deep voice booms "This is the EYE and we have come to speak with Judy Harper"

Phoenix immediatley moves in front of me, ready to deal with watever was going to happen next

"We know that you're there Judy" the low voice said "Open this door now and we won't break it down"

Kerrie uncertainly scrambles towards the door and looks at us, Felix nods at her and she goes on her tip toes to unlock the door.
