"Perfect,"
Sadie led me to Finn's house next door carefully. I shivered as I walked in the thin, short dress.
Even if it's summer, it's still as cold as a night usually is. My teeth chattered with every step I took.
"Millie, you're practically turning blue." Finn said, wrapping his sweatshirt around my shoulders.
I looked to him and smiled. "Thanks, denim boy." I giggled.
"Here we are," He said, pointing up to the house. I smiled to him, as he held the door open, politely.
"I can't thank you enough," Sadie said, sighing. I raised my eyebrow towards her.
"Excuse me? I should be the one saying that." I laughed quietly, then glancing to Sadie and Finn.
"Millie, so do you remember when I absolutely used to despise that Caleb kid?" I nodded, as Sadie continued her words.
"Well, at Noah's party, seems like he's now really cute." She said, emphasizing the word 'really.'
"And? Anything else?" Finn asked, rummaging through his drawers for a t-shirt.
"Oh yeah!" Sadie giggled. "I got his nuuummberrr!"
"That's great." I said, sort of quietly. I hugged Finn's side as she continued talking. I looked up at him.
Finn was smiling, and ever since I met him, he hadn't done that much. He'd been so stubborn and it was hard to handle.
So what if he stole my power cables? He brought me to the point where I had the best night ever.
Sadie merged herself in between us, and wrapped her arms around both of us. She looked to both of us.
"You guys are the brighter part of this night."
-
I woke up, and I was sweating a lot. I was in a bed, but thankfully, I was in it alone.
It wasn't mine, so I had the hunch it was Finn's. I peeked over each side. Sadie and Finn slept on the floor.
I slid off of the bed and continuously tapped their noses, causing them to wake up in annoyance.
"Morning." I smiled, watching each of them stand up as they yawned loudly.
"Hi, princess. It's 9 am, why so early?" Finn asked, rubbing his eyes.
"What he said." Sadie piped up, attempting to fix her hair with her hands. "Also, I brought you some clothes, Mills."
Sadie handed me a pile of clothes. My favorite white tank top and a floral dress.
"You went back to my house?" I asked, smoothing out the creases upon the fabric of the dress.
"I didn't get permission to get in, if that's what you're wondering." She shrugged. "But I grabbed my black floral dress that I always keep there." She said, hugging it to her chest.
"Well, I'll be changing clothes, so I suggest you two either change in the bathrooms or eat breakfast now." Finn said, motioning for us to leave the room.
Sadie and I stumbled upon hall bathrooms and changed quickly. I found a brush that looked to belong to Finn's mom.
I picked it up. Looked like it hadn't been used much, and was nearly brand new. I brushed my hair and it looked decent.
I met Sadie outside the door and Finn emerged from his room, and I wasn't surprised, as he was wearing denim.
"Breakfast?" He asked. I nodded, also pulling out my phone.
"I just wanna see if my mom-" I stopped in my tracks. "She called me seven times. What do I tell her?"
"Tell her you're finally getting along with the boy next door," Sadie snickered. I dialed my mom.
"Hey mom," I said. She replied with the genetic 'Hi sweetie, where have you been?'
"I'm just with some friends. I'm getting along with the boy next door." I said, hoping she wouldn't turn this into something it's not.
"Okay..." She trailed off. "Love you, bye." I tried to say something but she hung up quickly.
"God damn." I murmured, following Finn and Sadie downstairs. "Anyways, breakfast?"
"We have donuts and mini wheats." Finn said, awkwardly rummaging through the white cabinet.
"Donuts." Sadie and I said in unison. I laughed, and Finn smiled.
He put the box in front of us and told us to choose. "Why don't you have any chocolate, denim boy?"
"Wasn't I sweet enough for ya?" He laughed, and my face turned red.
"I didn't kiss you on purpose, I was drunk." I said, grabbing a donut. He turned red and looked down.
"Yeah, right." He agreed, quietly. I hated to let him down. I mean, even if it weren't from the alcohol, I probably would have kissed him anyways.
"I actually thought you-" Finn stopped himself. "Never mind." Sadie looked back and forth between the two of us, awkwardly sipping a glass of water.
"She likes you, Finn." Sadie quietly interjected. I slapped her arm lightly, as a sign for her to shut her trap.
"Ha, I like her too." Finn shrugged, making brief eye contact with me. Then just like that, they talked about how great I was, just like I wasn't even there.
"And," I said, causing them to stop talking. "I usually don't fall for the ones who start out arrogant, but I guess things change."
