Maxim had forced herself to get up early so this time she wouldn’t miss the bus again or ran into Ljoe, well the Ljoe part is no use because she’s still going to encounter the bully at school no matter what. She hoped for the best and entered her first period just in time, not too early and not too late. She avoided eye contact with anyone, it seems that Ljoe has been spreading rumors that Maxim got her own body guard, of course everyone laughed at that joke, Maxim couldn’t afford to hire one and they all know that.

Ms. Higgins entered the classroom and faced the class, “Good morning everyone, it seems that this class has a late enrollee. You will have a new classmate and I hope you will treat him well” Ms. Higgins announced and everyone started to whisper at each other.

“Him? That means that it’s a guy…oh please don’t be a bully” Maxim hoped as she fidgets in her seat.

“Please come in dear” Ms. Higgins called out the new student as he entered the classroom, everyone was silenced by the new student’s presence and Maxim just had to look up and meet eyes with him.

“Holy crap!” she screamed in her mind, she looked at Ljoe who was glaring at the new student since he entered, and the bully’s hands were clenched itching to punch someone.

“Good morning everyone I’m Jo Kwangmin, it’s nice to meet you all” Kwangmin bowed and greeted his classmates but his eyes only focused on one person, and that was Maxim.

“Well dear you have to sit at the back since there are no more available seats in the front and middle rows. You have to sit with Ljoe back there, see that blonde kid?” Ms. Higgins pointed and Kwangmin just smirked.

“Yes Maam, can see him nice and clear” Kwangmin replied and went to his seat while passing beside Maxim and gave her a smile.

“Oh no, he will sure be in trouble! Of all the people in this class he had to sit with Ljoe! He had to go to this school!” Maxim couldn’t help to face palm herself and groan.

“Is there something wrong Maxim?” Ms. Higgins caught her dismay but the girl shook her head.

“No Ms. Higgins!” she quickly replied and the teacher started to discuss her lesson for the day.

Meanwhile at the back a tension is building inside Ljoe knowing that his enemy yesterday is now sitting just beside him, Kwangmin was intently listening to the lecture yet his eyes lingered on Maxim and her soul that still shines differently among the others.

“Who are you?” Ljoe asked in a demeaning tone which only Kwangmin could hear.

“Are you deft not to hear me say my name awhile ago?” Kwangmin replied coolly and Ljoe scoffed at him.

“Why did you save her, what are you to her?” Ljoe asked again and this time Kwangmin looked at him in the eye, he could see the glint of anger in Ljoe’s eyes and it was priceless for him.

“You were a bully and she’s helpless isn’t that reason enough to help her? Well if you really want to know I guess you could consider me as her…friend.” Kwangmin rolled his eyes at Ljoe which ticked off the other boy even more, but Ljoe stopped asking questions and faced the board instead.

“Just you wait” Ljoe hissed but no matter how silent he had said it Kwangmin was sure to hear.

The boy in front of Ljoe took a small eraser from his bag and glanced at another boy beside him; the two of them snickered and aimed to throw their erasers at their favorite target.

“OW!” Maxim groaned and bent her head with pain; Ms. Higgins was too preoccupied to notice her so the teacher didn’t hear Maxim. Ljoe snickered at his friends who just threw erasers at Maxim, even if he wouldn’t do anything; there are still others that would bully the weird girl.
