I entered the on-call room, and horrible memories flooded my mind. As everyone knew, on-call rooms were for sleeping, and sleeping or studying only...but nobody listened to that rule anyways. I climbed up to the top bunk and tried to sleep there. It was cold in the room, so the covers provided warmth, but I was still cold. I took off my lab coat, pager, and phone, and put them near my head. I closed my eyes.

Suddenly, the door opened, the lights turned on, and someone closed the door. I groaned, which made the rustling of clothing stop. "I'm trying to sleep here!" I looked straight down and saw a guy with nice green eyes. He wasn't wearing a shirt. I jumped back in shock. It was Jackson Avery. I landed on my chest. "Owwww....ow ow ow.." I groaned.

"You okay?" He asked. He was obviously concerned, but at the moment I was still pretty mad at him, so I brushed my long, dark brown hair out of my face and said,

"Yes, of course, now leave me to sleep, and put on a shirt." I grumbled.

"Or, I could leave if you'd like." He suggested.

"No, you can stay. Leave if you want." settled under my covers and faced the wall. I could hear him changing, and I felt creepy. Soon he was in the bed under mine. There was a long moment of silence.

"You know, I didn't kill you ten times over. I saw your face get a little pale when Yang said that...but is your chest okay? The sternum probably hasn't healed yet."

"I'm good. My sternum is a little weak, but, I will be okay. Why do you care?" I asked him. I was being cautious, because the second last time I saw him today, he was mad at me.

"We're friends, aren't we?" He sighed.

Jackson

I stared at the mattress above me and felt really stupid. I just said, 'We're friends, aren't we?' It sounded like something someone would say in a movie. I waited for her response.

"Are we?" She muttered. I have to admit, I was pretty mad at her for saying I was accusing her. Maybe I did accuse her, I don't remember.

The next morning came quickly, and I would have slept until ten or something if the sunlight hadn't woken me up. Kylie had woken up as well.

"Morning." She mumbled, throwing on her lab coat and checking the time.

"Good morning to you, too." I replied, opening the door for Kylie to leave first. I exited after her. Charles smirked as I came out. Kylie headed towards the foyer, and so did Charles and I, but Charles made me walk slower.

"So what were you doing that was so important that you didn't tell me about it or invite me over?" Charles asked mockingly.

"What? No, nothing happened in the on-call room. We just slept."

"Oh really?" He pestered me with his tone of voice. "So no sex or anything?"

"Dude, I'm not that kind of guy! Maybe you sleep around, but we were both tired." I murmured. "Now let me brush up." I walked off.

"Hey, hey, wait. I thought you guys were arguing." He recalled. I turned around.

"That, was last night. We made up by kind of apologizing."

"So anyways, wanna know what happened while you were at your orientation? It was interesting..." Charles trailed off to make me want to know. I responded to him with silence. "So, right after you went into the room, she burst into tears like a little girl. I guess she's sensitive or something. Anyways, when she came back from running away in sad, sad tears, she fixed me with this evil glare. Don't know what I did." He shrugged.
