A few hours later, Callie was out of surgery, so Cristina, Mer, Alex and I stood outside of a room, watching as Owen, Arizona, Derek, Mark, Teddy, Richard, and Addison, who replaced Lucy Fields because Lucy said she was a little out of her depth, planned for the next surgery that Callie would get.
"Yesterday we were at her stupid baby shower." Cristina sighed.
"I take it back." Mer whispered. "You can be Callie's baby's godmother."
"If there's even a baby to godmother." Alex snacked on chips. I nudged him. "What? The only way to save the baby is to save Callie, and the only way to save Callie could kill the baby."
"You've got a hickey on your neck." I mentioned.
"What?" Cristina laughed, and I pointed to it. "Oh, oh. Karev's turning all red."
"Shut up." He retorted, continuing to stuff his face with chips.
"Are you in love? Are you a lover?" Cristina teased him.
"Shut up!" He smiled.
"Well, Lucy's the first girl he's liked since...you know." I said.
"Don't get your hopes up. She works here at Seattle Grace Mercy Death, so she's probably going to go crazy, get hit by a gunman, get cancer, or get hit by a truck." Alex muttered.
"That's sad."
"Seattle Grace Mercy Death." Cristina repeated.
"He's got a point." Mer shrugged as we watched the attending bicker.
"I'm going to go get some food." I walked off.
"More like get some Avery." Alex snickered.
"He's in a relationship! And no, I'm totally over him!"
"I'm totally over him!" He mimicked me. I laughed it off and walked away, and I bumped into Jackson. The one person I didn't want to see.
"Hey, Kylie." He caught my arm. "Back there, the thing about your leg-"
"No. I'm fine, the bone probably just hasn't completely healed yet." I shook his arm off.
"Kylie..." He trailed off. "C'mon, can't we be friends?"
"I need more time, okay?" His words caught me off guard. Do I want to befriend him? He nodded. "Good-bye, Dr. Avery." I stood there and waited for his departure. He sighed and walked off. I didn't want to wait until Jackson felt the need to look for Lexie or run after her.
"Wow, you are harsh." April went up to me.
"It's his fault." I followed her into the cafeteria.
"But don't you think he's actually sorry?" She asked. "I know Jackson, and I've never known him to keep apologizing, even when someone told him to leave them alone." I thought about it for a minute. "So you're not over him."
"I want to be." I took a cookie from April's plate. "I mean, he's dating Lexie, so I should, you know, back off." I took more cookies. "You know, you should really find someone." I started.
"Oh, don't talk to me about that." She groaned.
"But really! I mean, Stark was no good for someone like you, but you need to find someone."
"Yeah, I know..."

'O.R.1 CALLIE' My pager beeped, and I woke up in the on-call room. Did they start without me? I ran up the stairs and into the scrub room. Thankfully, people were still there. Once I scrubbed, I walked past Jackson and Lexie and up beside Derek.
