I stare in awe, this view! The ocean! The salty sea air, the house. It's just how I have always imagined the Watari coastal holiday home. I beam, spinning around. I'm in Japan! For the first time in forever I'm with my roots, Japan.
I face the two storey wooden home. It looks surreal in contrast to Wammy's with it's huge iron gate and beige bricks. This place looks just like the photographs I used to ogle at. However the ora that hangs around here is familiar to me. Where do I know this warm feeling from, safety. Sure, I feel safe at Wammy's House, Hell it's as well protected as Buckingham palace, just more discreetly.
"Hisui, come inside." Grandfather chides. I huff.
"Coming." I smile falsely, just wanting to see the outside again. I stroll into the house and gasp. This place! It looks... like a home. My heart splits in two as images flash into my head, of a home that looks identical to this being engulfed by flames and smoke and ash. This house, this home... is a duplicate of the house that burned down thanks to Dwaine.
"Hisui, will you be able to find your room?" Grandfather asks. I nod in silence. Grandfather looks cautious. Is it because of me? Is he afraid of my reaction. I smile to myself.
I climb the stairs to the second floor and run my fingers over the identical texturized wallpaper with a lily motif to it. First door to the left, bathroom, first on the left, grandfather's and formerly also grandmother's room, second on the right is my mother's room would be and the room opposite it is my room. I push the door open, my suitcases are already here, on the snowy white carpet. I beam, my room here looks like my room from Wammy's which was modelled after the room I had at my grandfather's house before it was burned down.
I laugh and smile, spinning around, engulfed by the fragrance of apples. This room is perfect! Just like before. I pull the wardrobe open and put my clothes in there, place my books on the shelves, set up the computer and put the photos I took with me from Wammy's and put them on my bedside table.
I flop onto my bed, just like usual, it feels like I'm laying on a cloud. I pull out my phone and call Dani'.
"What!" she growls into the phone. I flinch.
"Dani?" I whimper.
"Hisui." she groans. "It's three am, why are you calling?"
"Shit, sorry. I forgot about the time differences." I apologise. "I just wanted to let you know that I'm safe and I hope you'll have a great time while I'm away. Do some of the things I'm too much of a coward to do." I giggle.
"Piss off Hisui, making you do that stuff is why it's so fun. I'm going to bed." she snarls teasingly, hanging up.
"I'm going to call Wammy's then." I tell the dial tone; punching the number in.
"What!" Matt shouts into the landline. I roll my eyes, he must be losing at one of his billions of games.
"Give the phone to Mello, Matt." I instruct.
"Marshmellow! get to the phone!" Matt screams.
"Matt!" my great uncle Jun reprimands from the upstairs intercom. I giggle.
"Who's calling Matt? Mello groans, is he sleepy.
"Hello Mello." I greet.
"Some crazy girl who you gave the Wammy's number to." Matt grumbles. "FUCK!" he screams.
"Matt!" Uncle Jun exasperates.
"Did you lose Matt?" I snort.
"Shut up!" Matt commands.
"Let me talk to Mello." I reply coolly, used to Matt's short temper.
"Hisui?" Mello asks.
"The one and only." I smirk. "So Matt; I'm not one of those crazy girls that Mello gives the Wammy's number to."
"You're still a crazy girl." Mello scoffs.
"LIES!" I grin.
"You tell such horrible lies Hisui." Mello laughs. "And you owe me chocolate."
"What the hell Mello? I huff.
"You ate my chocolate." he states.
"I know that but how could you have not left my parting gift." I grin. "You have a nose for chocolate yet you haven't sniffed it out. Hell I can lead you to it and I have my bandages on." I lie.
"Sure. Okay take me to the gift." he commands.
"Go to the armchair, two steps to the right from you. Then move it back three steps and open the trapdoor." I instruct.
"HOLY SHIT!!!!" Mello shrieks.
"A RAT!" Matt hollers.
"BOYS!" Uncle Jun flips out.
"Smell it." I grin.
"Smell it?" Matt asks.
"Smell the rat." I command.
"It smells like Thornton's." Mello's mouth is bound to be watering.
"Crazy!" Matt scoffs.
"I'm a crazy girl." I shrug.
"You just said you weren't." Matt protests.
"For the first time in forever she admitted it!" Mello praises.
"Oh shut up." I say.
"Hisui?" My eyes widen, how long has he been here,
"Someone has company." Mello laughs.
"Bye little miss crazy girl." Matt hangs up.
"I'm older than you!" I yell into my phone, despite hearing the dial tone.
"Hisui." he repeats.
"Hey." I blush.
"You promised your grandfather that you would wear your bandages." I am chided.
"Thanks for reminding me." I pull my hair up and tie it. "Help me put them on?" I ask.
"Sure." he gently wraps the bandages around me eyes to put me in darkness once more. At least he isn't as rough with putting on the bandages as the doctors were.
"I need to greet the Japanese police." he says, taking my arm. "Can you help me with my plan." I nod my head. And grandfather thought I wasn't going to help investigate! I beam.
