RILEYS POV
I walked with my two best friends on each side of me. It was finally shorts weather and I wore my favorite pair, and I felt fabulous.
“Oh my god, he is a ten over there.” Kat gawked, pointing over to a guy a large group, “What do you guys think?”
“Hmmm… More like a six.” I determined, lifting my sunglasses to look at the shirtless boy.
“That’s only because you’re dating Jace.” Marissa whined, “I’m with Kat on the ten.”
“Sorry that I have a boyfriend no one can compare to.” I smiled, letting my sunglasses fall back onto my eyes.
“Kat you should definitely go talk to him!” Marissa encouraged. Kat straightened her posture and walked straight to the group of boys, she immediately got their attention with her good looks. Marissa and I stayed back and watched Kat do her magic. She had the whole group of guys wrapped around her finger in no time. We decided to give Kat some privacy and found a picnic table to sit at.
The beach was fairly busy like usual. Marissa and I played a game of trying to figure out people and guess their ages and names. I picked out a Tony and Marissa argued that he was a Charlie. We were both certain with our guesses so I stood up and asked the guy his name. He was tall and muscular and looked about twenty three up close. His nose was swollen, like it was recently broken.
“Hi, Uhm I was just wondering your name?” I stutter, trying not to be totally awkward. The guy gave me a confused look,
“Aren’t you Jace Winter’s girl?” He asked, slowly stepping away.
“Yeah?”
“Then why do you want to know my name?” He interrogated, looking anxiously looked around.
“I just wanted to know..? God don’t be so touchy…” I backed away into a hard object. I immediately turned to see Jace.
“Was Anthony giving you any trouble here?” he asked, Anthony… Hmmm didn’t really fit him.
“What? No, I just asked him his name because Marissa thought she knew him.” I explained, Anthony quickly turned around and left. “Jace I’m allowed to talk to other guys.”
“Not alone like that.” He warned, his eyes dark.
“Jace you have to stop being so protective and trust me.” He tore his eyes off of me, “Are you and him close?”
“I guess you could say that.”
“What happened to his nose?” I asked, worried it may have been Jace who caused the swelling.
“I needed him to know you were mine.” He said darkly.
“You hit him!?”
“He was hanging out with Josh and I and he wouldn’t stop talking about a hot brunette, who turned out to be you.”
“Doesn’t mean you should hit him.”
“He was saying what he would do to you. He needed to shut up.”
“Oh Jace…” I sighed. “Why are you here?”
“I’m with Josh and Isaac.” He stated.
“Are we still on for tomorrow?” I asked as I started to walk away.
“For sure.” I left Jace to go back to my friends for the last time.
“I got the number!” Kat squealed, running back to Marissa and I with her phone in her hand.
