Kaiden and I stand here as multiple guests that attended this tour kickoff party, surround us with their distinct conversations being carried. I scan the room to only see guests and tables with food and drinks on it. Christina's recently released album, Head Or Heart, has the album art displayed on the wall as it's being supported on each corner by ties or rope.
Selena joins me and Kaiden after she talks with another guest. I wore something decent today. Something formal, or at least something that went together with this occasion. Christina hasn't come out yet because I heard from Selena that her car was late to pick her up and bring her here on time. I pull out my phone just to kill time until she's here, and I continue to read this fan fiction I'm reading.
I don't realize Kaiden's been trying to get my attention until he waves his hand over the screen of my phone. I look up at him and he smiles at me.
"You okay?" he asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
I look around and still see the same sight I saw a few minutes ago. I turn back to Kaiden and I tell him that I'm going to go to the food table because I haven't eaten anything all morning. It's ten twenty two in the morning, and it's obvious that people showed up here before the event started.
I make it to the table and examine the it as different types of assorted food and fruit that are presented on trays. Drinks are placed in a big metal bucket, with ice filled in it to keep the drinks cold. I pick up a peach, pieces of strawberries, crackers, cheese and I grab a vitamin water from the bucket. As I reach for the drink, somebody next to me accidentally drops his plate and looks down at it, smiling as he realizes the mess he made.
I look over to him as I grab the water.
"Need help?" I ask.
"Nah, it's fine I got it," he says in an English accent.
He reaches for napkins and accidentally knocks over a bottle of water that was left uncapped over on the table, and the water spills onto me. I look down in shock as it's gotten onto most of my pants.
"Crap, I'm so sorry!" he says.
"It's fine."
I place the plate down and the water and grab a few napkins to try to dab this water out.
"Let me help you with that," the boy says.
As he reaches for the napkins, I grab him at his wrist, stopping him from making any more movement. I look at him in the eyes and he looks into mine.
"I'm fine," I say while smiling.
I let go of his wrist and he pulls back. I continue to dab the water out and he stares at me while I do so.
"You've got a nice smile," he says.
I look up at him while still dabbing my pants, and my hair covers my left eye. I set the napkin down because this is as dry as my pants are going to get right now.
"My name's Brad," the boy says.
"I'm Alyson," I say.
"Alyson..." Brad says while taking in my name.
"That's a nice name."
"Thanks."
"So what's a pretty girl like you doing here at one of these?" Brad asks.
"Nothing really. Just the same thing that everybody else is here for; Christina. I'm here with my brother and Selena Gomez."
"Wow, cool," Brad says. "I'd like to get to know you a little bit more," he adds.
We both sit down at a nearby sitting area and talk about our lives. "Well, I'm Alyson Porter, I'm seventeen, my foster dads are Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. My brother is Kaiden Bennett, and I have a baby sister that's three months old, named Jamie."
"Interesting," Brad says as he stares down at the white fluffy rug.
"And you?" I ask.
"Well, I'm Bradley Will Simpson, I'm eighteen and I'm in a band called The Vamps, it's pretty sick, and yeah, that's pretty much it."
"Awesome," I say. I don't know this boy or ever heard of him or his band. I look around the room to find Kaiden or Selena, but the multiple faces of unfamilar men and women fill the room. I feel Brad's hand touch my knee and I look at him with a smile.
"You're pretty cute, you know that?" he asks.
I blush.
"Thanks," I say while moving my hair from my face.
"Want to get out of here?" Brad asks.
I take a moment to process the question and think whether I should reply "yes" or "no." Brad's a sweet boy, he really is, but I don't think I have time to engage in any romantic relationships with anyone. I just don't wanna hear all the sly innuendos from Dad Harry about any boyfriend of mine. Some say falling in love is a great thing, but others say that it's dangerous. I don't know what to tell Brad right now, but it's the opposite answer than what comes to my mind.
"Sure, where to?" I ask.
"Just walk down the street a little bit," he says.
We get up and walk to the door and outside. The busy city life of L.A is always a constant thing. The spring air is refreshing on my skin as we walk down the street. My dark gray cardigan blows in the breeze, as I have my arms crossed, and with Brad's hands shoved in his pockets. We slowly walk down the stree, passing buildings, businesses, and restaurants. We talk about just the casual lives we both endure. I see him out of the corner of my eye look at me with a smile a few times before continuing to look out onto the busy streets, and multiple people who seem to be walking the streets like us as well.
We stop in an ally in between a restaurant and a clothing store. The white brick of the clothing store has faded with dirt. He walks me into the ally and I turn my back towards the wall. Brad holds both of my eyes after licking his lips and adjusting his long hair. The American flag bandana holds his hair back and the sun casts a shine on the side of his face, bringing out a light shade of brown from his right eye.
He smiles at me and lifts up my hand to kiss the top of it.
"You're really pretty, and I'd love you get to know you more," he says.
He kisses me on the cheek, causing me to blush. "C'mon, I'll take you back," he says while leading me out of the ally.
