"My grand baby is here!!!" I hear a woman shout through the screen door as Brad, Natalie, the boys, and I walk up to the small house.
The woman comes bursting outside and into the front yard as a man follows behind her. She approaches me with open arms as she runs to me. I'm guessing this is Brad's mom and dad.
"Hi, honey!" she hugs me and I hug her back.
"Hello," I don't know whether to be happy to see her or uncomfortable.
"I've been dying to finally meet you! You are so beautiful!" she says.
"My name is Lillian," she introduces herself.
"Now, Lillian. We don't want to smother out son's girlfriend," Brad's dad says.
"I'm Alyson," I pat her on the back and she looks past me.
"My name's Eugene, pleased to meet you," Brad's dad says.
"I'm Alyson," I say, shaking his hands
"Bradley!" Lillian says and walks over to Brad and gives him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Okay, mum, you can let go now," Brad says with an uneasy smile.
"Where is my grand baby?!" she says as she looks around the whole lawn.
Brad holds up the two carriers and she seems surprised.
"Oh my lord, twins!" she says with her hand against her chest.
"Boy and a girl?" she guesses.
Brad nods.
"What's their names?" Lillian asks, taking Jonah from Brad.
"Jonah and Chloe," I say.
"What marvelous names!"
"Come! Come inside!" Lillian says directing to everyone and we follow her inside.
"Make yourselves at home," she says as she sets Jonah on the table.
I sit down at the table and turn Jonah towards me as I see Lillian wash her hands.
"So how was the flight?" she asks.
"It was okay," Brad says.
"She's never been this excited, nor happy about anything in the world," Eugene says.
I look around the house and see that there is no sign of any decoration for a birthday party. Isn't it today? When we arrived? I whisper it to Brad and he asks Lillian.
"Mum, I thought you were having a party here?" Brad asks as he looks around.
"Well I decided to cancel the party and just go out to eat. I've already had thirty-nine birthdays party's and I don't need another," Lillian says as she dries her hands.
She walks over to me, asking if she can hold Jonah, and I unbuckle him out of his car seat and hand him to her. She has an overjoyed look on her face as she holds him.
"When's the last time you fed them?" I ask Brad and he looks at me with a frozen face.
"Uhh..."
"Brad, you didn't for-" I begin to say but Brad cuts me off.
"No, I didn't," Brad says but continues to look at me with a look of dishonesty.
"Brad! I can't believe you forgot to feed them!" I nearly yell, but I don't, because I don't want to scold him in front of his parents and the guys. I take out two bottles from the diaper bag and hand one to Lillian so she can feed Jonah and I feed Chloe.
