The rain came down hard, drenching my black and ice blue hair. I shifted on my perch in the trees. My clothing was beginning to cling to my body. I stared at the window of a house. A goth boy sat at his desk headphones on his head.
“Rapture, when are you going to make him your mate?”
“Never…”
“Rapture, you’re our leader, and you need a mate.”
“Carrie shut up! I’m not bringing him into this world, it’s bad enough that the council is after us, after the last mate a member of this coven took up without going through the ceremony. This discussion is over.” I growled.
Carrie sighed, and then jumped down from the trees, and ran off. I sighed, and looked back towards the window. The goth boy, had moved from his desk, and was getting ready for bed. I moved on my perch, and got a full view of the goth boy. I sighed, and watched as he climbed into bed, and turned the lights off.
I jumped down from the trees, and then moved over to the window. I jumped, the two stories, and my fingers hooked onto the sill. I pulled myself up, and perched on the tiny window sill. I stared into the room, and at the sleeping figure. I sighed, and then dropped down from my perch. I landed on the ground, my hand pressing against the soft, cold grass. I stood up, and then walked away from the house.
I walked all the way back to the house, that I called mine. I entered the house, and then stepped towards the kitchen. The first thing I saw in the kitchen was Carrie with her mate Sam on the counter. I sighed, as I watched for about a second as they made out. I walked over, and tapped on Sam’s shoulder. She turned and faced me, which caused Carrie to look over Sam’s shoulder at me.
“Take that to the bedroom please, I don’t want that on my counters.” I said pointing down the hallway.
Carrie glared at me, before pulling Sam off the counter, and taking her to the bedroom. I watched them leave, before moving over to the fridge, and yanking the door open. I pulled a champagne bottle filled with the deep red liquid I craved. I set the bottle down on the counter, and then turned the cupboards. As I pulled open the cupboard door, I stared at my hand. Once it was open, I pulled down crystal wine glass, as well as a large bottle of vodka. I turned back to the counter, and set the glass and bottle down.
The overpowering smell of fresh draining bodies in the cellar wafted up to the kitchen. I breathed in the smell, and it made my thirst grow to almost full blood lust. I took the champagne bottle, and yanked the cork out of the top. I poured the red liquid into the wine glass, and ran my tongue over my fangs that were growing sharp with hunger. Normally I was able to keep my hunger down, and keep my fangs dull. I set the bottle down, and then poured vodka into the wine glass. I stared at the glass as the alcohol mixed with the blood. I set the vodka bottle down, and then picked up the wine glass leaning against the counter. I sniffed at my drink, and then slowly started drinking it.
I watched as Jordan, walked up into the kitchen, a decaying body slung over his shoulder. Jordan was another vampire that I had turned, and he was the big burly one of the coven. You could tell that he was always the one to deal with the heavy lifting around here. Jordan grunted, and nodded at me. I smiled as I finished off my glass, and wiped my mouth. I set the glass down on the counter to be washed, and then went onto putting things away. I watched as Felisha, Jordan’s mate bounced into the kitchen and over to the large floor to ceiling cabinet that held some human snacks for them. Eventually Sam, and Felisha would be turned into vampires, but I got to choose when they are ready for that.
It’s been a year since we moved here to this little town, and two years since we took Sam, and Felisha away from their families. Sam was ok with it, she had fallen in love with Carrie the first time she saw her, and then begged Carrie to take her with us. Carrie gladly accepted and took her as a mate.. illegally though. I had gotten mad at Carrie but calmed myself down, only to freak again when we had to move or get caught by the vampire council in our last town. Felisha was a different story. Felisha was still pretty young, She’s only like twelve years old. Jordan and grown so much in love with her that he had kidnapped her from her home. Felisha at first was freaked out, but when she saw the love behind his intentions, she gladly accepted to go with him to the council, and go through the mating ceremony.
I looked over at Felisha, and smiled. It was her thirteenth birthday in about a week, and Jordan was planning a lovely party for her. He had already gotten her tons of presents, and even Carrie was getting into it buying presents. The only thing I could muster up in such a time was an antique necklace, that she could wear when she was ready for her changes.
Sam was sixteen, and I suppose was ready for her changes, but I was feeling confident that Carrie was ready to sire a newborn. Since Carrie was still pretty young for a vampire, I could offer to do Sam’s changing, and I was thinking about that becoming a rule of my coven. Any newborn vampires coming into the coven, must be made by me, or at least be up to my standards and willing to deal with my coven rules.
Each coven had rules, and a name. My coven was called, Blood More, and I had many rules within my coven.
1. All members will not drink from a humans body (All blood comes from drained dead bodies, courtesy of the morgue.)
2. All mates must not undergo the transformation until the determined time chosen by the leader (Me. Rapture)
3. All sexual activities take place inside the coven house, and never…ever in these areas (Kitchen, living room, my work areas, the porch, the attic) Showers are completely fine.
4. Any fights between coven members will end with each member hanging from the wall with a hot poker through their chest. (I’ll personally shove the poker through your chest)
5. Any, or all betrayals will cause the betrayer to become ash (I’ll put the stake through your heart.)
The list could go on, and on. I walked off to my bedroom as the sun was about to rise. I passed the front door, and Jordan entered the house and walked off to his room. I looked at the front door, and then locked it before walking up the stairs to the second floor that held only my bedroom. I walked down the hallway to the last door which lead to my room. I pushed open the door, and then stared at the coffin at the other end of the room.
The dark wood made it almost impossible to think of as comfortable, but inside the purple silk made it all more comfortable to sleep in. I walked over slowly gliding over the dark hardwood floor, a deep blood red rug covered the center of the room, where a loveseat, and a chair made the rest of my room’s furniture. I sat down in my chair, and stared at the coffee table. I sighed before leaning over, and picking up the book that was on the table. The cover was black, and the title down the spine read, “Getting rid of Unwanted Love.” I sighed, and then opened the book, and flipped to page thirty-two. I continued on with my reading.
As the sun rose, I stood up, and then went over to my coffin. I reached it, and my fingers dragged across the finely polished wood. I breathed in, and then opened the lid. I climbed in, and then laid, down wiggling around getting myself comfortable before I closed it.
