The day went on, but I'm not quite sure what all happened because I was way too distracted. I do know that Sabrina checked with her mom to see if she could come over.
She said, "Yes."
I meet up with Sabrina at our lockers, and we went to my dad's class.
"What's she doing here?" my father asked.
"She's coming home with me to help me get ready for my date tomorrow."
"Date? What date?"
"It's with Shawn. Mom said it was okay, and I don't even know if it will go anywhere. There is no harm in it. We're just going to hang out."
"Nothing you do alone with a boy has no harm, and I didn't say it was okay," he says back.
"But mom did! And that is good enough for me."
He dropped it, thankfully.
I just remembered that I need to tell Shawn I can go. I shoot him a text real quick saying, "I can go zip-lining with you."
He answers fairly quickly saying, "Cool."
When we get home, we go straight to my room. "We are going zip-lining so I don't want anything too fancy."
"Zip-lining. Really that's the best he could do?" she said.
"What? I like zip-lining. And it's better than a movie."
"True."
"To the closet." After rummaging through my closet, she comes out with an outfit.
"How about this?"
It was a pair of black leggings and a teal PINK hoodie. "Perfect! What would I do without you?"
"I don't know. But now what shoes?"
"How about my white converse?" I replied.
"Great! See. You don't need me as much as you think. You are a fashionista in training."
"I'm so excited. But kinda nervous. What if I make a fool of myself?"
"You'll be fine. I promise. And if things get a little awkward or something, just imagine that it's all of our friends there and not a date."
"Okay. I can do this."
"Dinner time!" mom calls out.
"Okay," I reply.
Sabrina and I go wash up for dinner, and then we head to the kitchen. We fill our plates with the food. Tonight dinner is baked ham, french style green beans, corn, and macaroni and cheese. Henry, my younger brother, starts devouring his food.
"Thank you, mom! This looks delicious."
"Yes. Thank you, Mrs. Taylor," Sabrina says, in a polite manner.
"Henry August Taylor!" mom yells.
Henry looks up with cheese around his mouth.
She continues, "Where are your manners? We have guests."
"Sorry, mommy. But I can assure Kamri that the food is extremely good."
"Well, thank you, Henry," she replies before beginning to eat her food.
My mom is Danielle Taylor. She's 47 and 5'6". She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is a lawyer at a big law firm.
After dinner, Sabrina's mom comes by to pick her up. Like always they talked for thirty minutes. During those thirty minutes, we worked on our math homework. We got all twenty-five problems done. So roughly one minute per question. Except we split it up, so it's more like two minutes.* * * *
I got up at my normal time. 6:00. I got dressed in my teal PINK hoodie, leggings, and converse. I also put on my gold "K" necklace and my normal ring.
Then I went to eat some breakfast. Mom had cooked pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs. One of my favorites. I got a plate with two pancakes, two pieces of sausage, a slice of bacon, and some eggs. I like sausage more than bacon, and most people think I'm crazy for that. I don't care.
Once I finished, I washed my dishes and went to brush my teeth.
Then I brushed out my hair. I made sure I had a ponytail with me because I would not want my hair to get caught while we were zip-lining.
Then I put on my makeup. That didn't take long cause I don't put on near as much as all the other girls my age. Ready to leave for school by 7:25.
We live about fifteen minutes away from my school, so I got there at 7:40. I went to the gym like normal, and Sabrina, Shawn, and some others were already there.
"Kamri!" Sabrina screams.
Everyone in the gym turns to look at us. She stands up, and I give her a hug. We sit down.
Shawn says, "You look great, Kamri."
Probably blushing I reply, "Thanks."
We talked for about ten minutes until the bell to go to class rings. Shawn walks with Sabrina and me to our lockers. His locker is a few down from ours, but he normally walks with the other guys in our group. I got my notebook for health and waited for Gabriella and Abby.
They have been friends since 3rd grade and joined our group in 6th grade. They are my only friends in my health class, so we walk together every morning.
On our way, they ask me about what is going on between Shawn and me.
I tell them that we are going zip-lining together after school, but it's nothing serious. At least not yet.
During health class, Coach Hale talks about the immune system. It was really boring.
When class is over, we go back to our lockers where I get my stuff for science. By the time I'm done, Sabrina is there. I wait for her to get her stuff, and we walk to science. Meiosis is on the board. The bell rings.
"Meiosis is the reproduction of sex cells," Mrs. Matthews begins, "We are going to split up the reading. We will go in order and each person will read one to two paragraphs. I will read a few paragraphs after every row. So everyone get out your textbook and pay attention."
Row one reads, then two, and then it's my turn. It was a piece of cake because I don't mind reading out loud. I read two paragraphs, and then Sabrina read a couple. We finished reading the lesson, and Mrs. Matthews gave us a worksheet to do in partners. As always, Sabrina and I worked together. We finish a couple of minutes before the bell rang.
Then we walked to our lockers. I walked to history with Shawn while Sabrina went to health.
Today the board said, Princess Daisy. For once this might not deal with my life.
My father walks in right before the bell rings. As always, he asks if anyone knows who Princess Daisy is and what part she plays in history. For the first time, GayAnn doesn't raise her hand.
"Oh no! She's probably not even real. My dad probably just made her up to teach me something," I thought.
"Really! I've stumped you guys."
"I've heard of her but don't know much amount her," GayAnn speaks up.
"Oh good. At least she's not made up," I thought.
"Well, so Princess Daisy was betrothed to Sebastian. First off, does anyone know what betrothed means?"
As always, GayAnn blurts out, "Betrothed means to be engaged to or promised to."
"Correct, GayAnn! The thing with this betrothal is that they had never met. About a week before they were to be married, they got to meet each other. After a day of just talking at the palace, they went out into the kingdom. Someone came to talk to Daisy, and Sebastian got really mad because he thought they were hitting on her. 'She is betrothed to me, so leave her alone!' he screamed. Obviously, being a princess, she did not like this side of him. 'If this is how he is going to act every time a boy comes near me then...I don't want to marry him,' she thought to herself. When they got back to the castle, she went to tell her mother, the queen, what happened. She also told her about her feelings of marrying him. He gets banished from the kingdom, and Princess Daisy grows up to be a wonderful queen all on her own," he paused. "She is a very important person in history because she changed the way people were married. She changed it so that people can choose for themselves who they wanted to date and marry," my dad concluded.
"Is this his way of telling me he approves of me dating Shawn?" I think.
