The Boyfriend

I wake up to people talking. I hear the doctors talking to my mom.
I don't hear my dad, though. He must have gone home when I fell asleep like he said he would, and then he went to school.
I open my eyes and sit up quietly.
I hear them talking about the CT scan.
All of a sudden, my left arm goes numb, and I can't feel it. I get the doctor's attention. "My arm is numb."
"Oh no!" They tell my mom that they need to do a CT scan immediately. They took me to the room and laid me on the platform. Everyone leaves. I can hear them speaking to me. I do as they say, and it seems to be done in an instance.
I wait for what seems like a couple of hours.
My mom says it was only thirty minutes, though.
They come back and say, "It looks good. We couldn't see a blood clot."
"Then why was her arm numb?" my mother asks concerned.
"It could have just been how she slept."
"So what do we need to do now?" my mom asks.
Before the doctors can answer, a tall guy, around my age, walks in. He rushes next to me. He leans down to hug me. I try to push him away. My efforts don't do much because I am so weak.
When he stands up, I ask, "Who are you?"
"Braidy. Your boyfriend."
Braidy! What is this? Braidy isn't real. I answer as calmly as possible, "I don't have a boyfriend."
"Yes, you do. We've been dating for two years."
Two years ago was when we moved back to Salt Lake City from Maine. Also, the time when I started lying so much.
"If you're my boyfriend, then why are you just now showing up at the hospital."
"Because they wouldn't let me see you. My name wasn't on the list to see you. I came back just to try, and there wasn't a list anymore."
I guess because of the CT results.
"But I don't even know you."
"It must be the concussion. It wiped me from your memory."
He leans down again. I put my hands up to push him off, but again it didn't work. He kissed me. On the lips! I push even harder with all my might. He gets off. But I see Shawn running off. Oh no! They've already started to mess things up.
Dad and Sabrina walk in. "Sabrina! Perfect timing. Please go find Shawn. Tell him nothing happened."
I can tell she wanted to ask me why, but, being the good friend she is, she went without question.
I hope she can get him to talk to me. But if she does, what will I say. It's not like I can just flat out say that he was my made-up boyfriend who came to life. And then what will I say to Sabrina! She always told me I lied too much. But then again, she always did want to meet him, and at least I did already tell her he was a lie. I just hope they understand and will help me through it.
My parents talk with the doctors about when I can leave and the procedures I will have to follow when I'm out. I hear that I will hopefully be let out by tomorrow but that I will have to take it easy. Pretty much like bed rest. Ugh!

Sabrina walks in with Shawn while my parents were out to get Henry from his friend's house. Braidy had left a while ago which I was happy about. Sabrina walks over to me to give me a hug.
She whispers, "You better explain yourself later."
"I will. Or as best as I can." She starts walking to the door. She gets past Shawn, and then she turns around. She pushes him toward me, and he continues to walk toward me.
Sabrina leaves saying, "I'll give you two a minute to talk."
He sits down.
As soon as Sabrina has had a few minutes to get a little ways away, he screams at me, "How could you!"
I don't blame him, though. "It's not what it looked like."
"Well, it looked like you kissed another boy! I thought you liked me. I thought we had something."
"I know. I know. And I do like you. A lot."
"Ok. This is hard for me to say," I started again.
"Just say it!"
Ok. He's a little-worked up. "Ok. Ok. Calm down."
"I can't calm down! I like you, Kamri. And you just kissed another guy. Do you not realize how mad that makes me!"
"Oh! I get it alright. Look. So I have told a lot of lies, some to you, but you just witnessed one. That was Braidy."
"Braidy!" he cuts me off, "Your old boyfriend."
"Yeah," I answered, "except he was never real. Until now. I have no clue where he came from or how he's here. But he is, and I don't think he will ever realize that I don't like him. But believe me. I really like you. And I hope you will forget about this. And we will be good."
"So he kissed you," putting emphasis on 'you', "Not the other way around."
"Yes! Twenty times yes!"
"But if he never realizes that you don't like him," he stopped, "Will he ever leave you alone?"
"I don't know. I don't even know why he's here. But just promise me that you will help me figured it out, and you won't leave me." He leans down and kisses me.
"I promise."
I feel a little light headed, and I black out. Not black out where I pass out, just to where I can't see.
When I can see again a few minutes later, I ask Shawn, "Can you go get Sabrina? I have to tell her what happened now."
The two of them walk in. They sit on either side of me. "Ok. So here's the story. Short and sweet. Hopefully. Braidy is real now, and he kissed me."
"Braidy! What? How?"
"I don't know how. He just showed up."
"Ok. So what are we going to do?"
She's taking this better than I expected. "I don't know. I'm still trying to process it all."
"Ok. I have your back. Whatever you need."
