The bell rings to go to lunch. While I was finishing putting up my stuff from class, Shawn comes over. We wait about another minute for Sabrina and then head to lunch. Like yesterday, Shawn sat where Gabriella normally sat. We ate our lunches, and we talked about our work and how much we were dreading our test in math.
Lunch seemed to go by really quickly today. I felt like we had been there for like five minutes. I barely ate any of my food. But when the bell rings, I guess I had to go to math.
My math class is taught by Mrs. Calvin. She is one of my favorite teachers that I have. I got my notebook for math and headed to Shawn's locker with Sabrina. All three of us walked to class together, and we were greeted by Gabriella and Abby. This class has the most of my friends. It's my second favorite. Next to English, of course, which is next!
This week, we have been learning about the volumes of shapes. On Monday, we learned about rectangular prisms and cubes. On Tuesday, it was spheres and cylinders. On Wednesday, we learned cones and square pyramids. Thursday was just a review of them all for the test today.
We have tests almost every Friday. They can be worth anywhere from twenty to a hundred points. We also have a notebook check just to make sure we are paying attention, doing what we are told, and keeping up with our papers. Those are easy A's.
As usual, I finish the test about a couple minutes after GayAnn. They are usually pretty easy.
When we get done, we can read, draw, get on the laptops, etc. as long as we don't talk. I usually read, but every once and while, I will get on the laptops. Once everyone is done with the test, we can talk.
We didn't get to talk much today because a couple people took most of the time to take the test. It wasn't that it was hard, but it was just one of the long ones. One of the higher point tests.
When the bell does ring, we go to English class. For this class, I don't go back to my locker because it is all the way down the hall, and I don't need to get anything. I would only go to put up my math notebook, but what is the harm in keeping for an extra period.
Our teacher, Mrs. Lacey, had some work to catch up on, so she said, "Read or do something that is quiet, but please don't talk."
Since she knows how much I love reading, she lets me sit in the reading area with a friend. As always, I bring Sabrina. The reading area is the place for the good kids. It has a few beanbag chairs, pillows, etc.
It reminds me of when I was in kindergarten, and my teacher had a bathtub that we would put our backpacks in. I don't really know why it reminds me of that, but it does. I guess it just kind of reminds me of home. But whatever the reason, I like it.
Once it was time to go home, I go to my locker to get my stuff.
Then, Sabrina and I go to Shawn's locker until he is ready to go. We all walk out together, but Sabrina rides the bus while Shawn is a car rider. I say goodbye to Sabrina and give her a hug.
Before we let go, she whispers in my ear, "Have fun!"
Shawn and I go to wait for his mom to pick us up.
After a couple of minutes, Mrs. Lanie, Shawn's mom, shows up. He opens the door for me, and we pile in.
When we get to the zip-line, we get out. His mom parks, and lets us go on ahead of her while she parks the car.
We walk up the small hill to the tower, and then up a couple flights of stairs.
On the way up, Shawn asks, "You ready?"
"Definitely! I love zip-lining!"
"Awesome! Me too!"
When we get up the stairs, there are some workers there.
They ask if we have an adult with us.
We say she is behind us.
One guy says, "Okay! We'll go ahead and get you in the harnesses, but you will not be able to go until she signs for y'all."
"Sounds good to me," Shawn replies.
We are almost done getting the harnesses on when Mrs. Lanie reaches the platform where we are. She signs off for us and gets harnessed up, as well. Once she is all harnessed up, the workers tell us to head up a few more flights of stairs to the platform with the zip-lines. When we get up there, there are three other workers waiting for us. Since there were only two zip-lines, we let Mrs. Lanie go first, so she could be waiting for us when we finished.
She was screaming so much!
I'm not so sure she likes zip-lining.
Now it's our turn. I'm so excited!
They get us attached to the zip-line and count off. "3-2-1."
They push us off, and down we go. I zoom past Shawn at first, but not much later, does he pass me.
As he does, he screams, "Having fun?"
"Definitely!" I scream back, "This is so exhilarating!"
When I'm about halfway through, several of the lies I've told rush through my mind. Braidy, my "boyfriend", Evelyn, the deaf girl I tutor, my huge vacation house we have in Maine, how we always go to amazing vacations over the summer, etc.
My thoughts get interrupted by the sound of people screaming my name.
What's going on? Where am I? Who are these people? The voices don't sound familiar. Wait I recognize a voice. It's Shawn! Oh! Yeah! I'm zip-lining. I jump back to reality. But it was too late.
