As I fumble for words Avery's smirk is quickly replaced by a glare. "Watch where your going nerd." He growled.

I stood up slowly, careful not to bump into him again. He continued walking past me as if I was never there. "Maybe you should watch where your going." I hissed under my breath, so he wouldn't hear. "Asshole." I mumbled.

I carefully picked up my things and slung my bag over my shoulder- only to be pushed up a by against the lockers. When I looked up I saw Avery's stormy blue eyes boring into my brown ones.

"What did you say?" He hissed through gritted teeth.

I felt a sudden anger rush through my body. He has the nerve to be mad at me? He's the jerk who hurts every girl in school! He's the one who always gets in trouble! He bumped into me! He didn't even apologize!

"I said," I say staring right at him. "Maybe you should watch where your going, Asshole."

I'm surprised by the sudden confidence and anger in my voice; and I can tell Avery is too. His glare drops to a smirk as he watches me intently.

"The little nerd talks, huh," He says. "I didn't know your kind talks."

"Oh, you mean humans? Yes I do believe we talk." I say sarcastically with shooting him a glare.

He stares at me, not taking his eyes off me for one second. I feel blood run to my cheeks and then I remember. I'm late to class! This egotistical jerk made me late for class!

In a quick movement I push him off me and ran towards my class. I hear him running after me, but luckily I'm faster.

"Ms. Williams, your late." Mrs. Howard says while looking down at her clipboard.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Howard. I had some trouble on the way here." I say, hoping that she takes it easy on me.

She looks up at me and smiles. Mrs. Howard and my moms are friends, they have been for a while now, so she usually takes it easy on me. The fact that I have never gotten in trouble before helps too.

"Its alright, but please do not let this happen again." She says.

I nod and take a seat next to Tyler. Another thing I love about him is that he always saves a seat for me. I immediately take out all my materials and sling my backpack on my chair.

"Why were you late?" Tyler whispers.

"I ran into-" The sound of the door swinging open cuts me off.

And there standing in front of the class with his notorious smirk, is Avery. The whole class is silent, except for Mrs. Howard, who glares at Avery.

"Why are you late, Mr. Parker?" She asks him with a menacing voice.

He looks around the room, then grins when his eyes land on me. Crap, he saw me. "Something caught my eye." With that he winks at me, and takes a seat in the row in front of Tyler and I.

Tyler automatically tenses next to me, his jaw clenched and his hands are into fists. I have always known something was up with Tyler and Avery. After all The Bad Boy and the player have to cross paths sometime, right? Whenever I ask Tyler about it be tells me the same story. Which is nothing. He says it's none of my business, and I always try to not feel hurt.

"Okay Class to begin our lesson today, I will be pairing you with someone for the upcoming Multicultural Fair. Each pair will get assigned a country and will make a Presentation. Now, please remember these pairs have been pre-selected and will not be changed." Mrs. Howard says.

Instantly I do a mental prayer in my head that I won't end up with Tyler. I love him more than anything, but when it comes to work he never does anything! Last time we did a project together I ended up doing all the work, because he was going to a party. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why we're even friends, but then I spend time with him and wonder why I even questioned our friendship in the first place.

"Here is the list of the pairs, after you found your partner please sit next to them and begin your presentation." She says, gesturing to the piece of paper on the wall.

I stand and walk towards the list. But most of the people around me practically leap to see who they got. There are the occasional whines and grunts of disappointment, mixed with the cheers and high-fives of people who got who they wanted. By the time I get to the list, my heart almost stops.

Pair #7) Avery Parker and Natalia Williams.

I turn around and when I do, I see Avery taking Tyler's seat next to mine. He leans back in the chair, arms crossed and grinning. I feel Tyler standing next to me, and I turn around. Sure enough, Tyler is there; Glaring viciously at Avery, who only winks in reply.
Just my luck. Why must you do this god?
