"I just don't understand why you decide to come back now!"
"She is my daughter. I haven't seen her since she was six years old, thanks to you!"
"Well, news flash, Nathan; she is my daughter as well! I raised her with Claire since the day you left our lives and I've been her mother and father since then. So y-you can't just take her away now-"
"Stop fighting, both of you! Now if you may please leave, do so before I call security!"
My head aches with the yells surrounding me, making me instantly regret waking up. What a great way to wake up: to the sound of my new father and Stephanie fighting!
Wait.... New father?
Previous thoughts and memories collide and I mentally groan in frustration. What am I supposed to do? I only met this man a few hours ago and he claims to be my dad; and even though I believe him, I'm not Sure of what to do. And how can I even make a decision when I don't have the whole story? For all I know he could have been lying, well not about the restraining order but about everything else.
And as for my moms, well the decision is clear on that one. I can't leave them, but I can't forgive completely just yet. What I really need is a heart-to-heart with them and to hear out what happened. But what I don't understand is why now? According to the paper the restraining order ended two years ago; I'm not stupid, I know how to read (obviously).
He had his chance then, he could have found me and talked things out; instead he had to appear out of the blue!
I'm too afraid to open my eyes, but when I do I'm glad I see my doctor and not my fighting mom and...... Nathan.
Her dark brown eyes have dark half-moons underneath them, her completely black hair is pulled back into a bun messily, features tight, thin lips pursed and cheekbones looking sharper than usual. Her tanned skin is now slightly pale.
When she sees me her eyes brighten slightly and she smiles, a smile that transforms her completely.
"How my little fighter doing?" Dr. Mayweather jokes.
I groan and give her grin. "Great, despite my killer headache and screwed up family life. How's it going Dr. Mayweather?"
Laughing she takes out her chart and examines it. Nodding once, she takes a seat on my bed with a sad smile. "I'm sorry that this is happening. I talked to your... father and mothers. They think it's best if you stayed with someone else today, while they straighten things out."
Sitting up right I stare at her with slight anger starting to boil within me. "What-why-they can't! They can't just drop this bombshell on me and then send me away like this! I want answers and I want them now!"
I hear my heart monitor beep faster and she hushes me. "Calm down, Natalia. I know this might be hard for you, but you need to be strong."
She gently puts a hand on my shoulder and pushes me back slightly. I sit back as I hear my heart rate slow down. "Now, your mom already called someone to pick you up in an hour. I need you to take your medication once your get there and then you will need plenty of rest." She gently touches my forehead and I wince. "The hit you took to the head was pretty bad, you be careful, alright?"
"Yes, okay. But who is going to pick me up?" I ask, partly curious as to how will be ending up with me.
A small smile spreads over her face as she says, "Your mom will tell you, but first I do need to tell you that in a matter of possibly three days you might be a big sister!"
