Detention

The bell had rung.

School had ended.

Yuu happily hopped out of his seat and waited for the blonde to take his hand. The two walked out of the school and into the courtyard. For some odd reason Yuu insisted on walking without Mika holding his hand. Mika of course agreed, keeping a closer watch on the green eyed boy.

The raven hummed along to the tune of a random nearby student who was singing. The voice wasn't nearly as good as Mika's but never the less it was way too good to ignore. Who knew he'd be so distracted that he'd run into the group of upperclassmen who were casters? A group well known for their bullying and gleaming red eyes. As one was about to curse the fallen Yuu who had already at this point sprained his ankle, Mika came in and quickly attempted to counter it. It soon became a full on fight with many curses and a variety of spells that Yuu just couldn't comprehend. He felt tired, his eyelids growing heavy before he collapsed to the ground hitting the back of his head on the outer wall of the school as he began to drift away.

Mika of course stopped upon seeing this, cursing to himself for never learning any useful cleansing or healing spells and he was just too freaked out to do anything for that matter. Tears brimmed his as he held Yuu. Why didn't he just leave? Why did his anger have to get the best of him?

Tears brimmed his eyes. Who knew just how severe this curse was? Was it permanent?

One by one the casters took their leave. "You're finally right for once Ferid. He is strong."

From out of nowhere a teacher came each and every figure freezing in place. "Detention all of you." The casters now recognized the teacher as Ms. Yukimi, her pale hand extended before her to maintain the paralysis of the students. She kneeled down to the fallen Yuichiro who was now resting in the wall. "Tell me. Who is his guide?"

"I-I am!" Mika managed to fight the paralysis. Partially, that is, his words stiff and short.

The raven sighed before letting the blonde go. "Your job is to take care of him and protect him. Not fight. Take him to the infirmary and come to detention. You should be thankful that I won't make you resign as his guide. Consider this a warning."

Mikaela was soon at Yuichiro's side, more than ready to scoop him up and get him help. The rest of the casters, who were still caught frozen in the teachers magic, flew past the pair, trailing close behind the teacher as her heels clicked in the school's hallways.

"I thought you were better than this, Shindō."

He sighed before walking to the infirmary.

"I'm so sorry Yuu-chan."

...

"What's your name blondie?"

The petite senior spun a pen that hovered just above her small pale hands. Mika observed the pinkish-red magic that surrounded the pen, rather intrigued by how calmly it flowed from her fingertips. He couldn't help but notice how uniform yet unique their magic was. Their magic resembling vines as it sprouted from their fingertips during their fight from earlier.

What he'd give to have such control.

The blonde envied them simply because of their control. It was the main reason he never made friends. He was just...too unpredictable.

One day he could show off to his entire class with a fantastic show or save a life the next he'd accidentally set them up a tree on fire or cause an entire classroom to freeze.

He hated his powers.

He didn't grow to be thankful for them until he met Yuichiro. He was able to make the raven happy, he did things he had never done before, control his power... somewhat that is.
