A Cinderella Story

Chapter 26

Emma and Killian told the kingdom the news of another Jones baby. Everyone was thrilled. Even Regina, Zelena and Cora. Village women were already talking to Emma about possible baby names.

In the evening, Killian and Emma took Henry and Lilli out to the woods. Henry and Lilli played hide-and-go seek while Emma and Killian took a small walk.

"I'm thinking Snow as the baby's godmother." Killian suggested.

"And Liam as the godfather." Emma agreed.

"Does Henry know?"

Emma shook her head. "I haven't told him yet."

"Swan you know I think of Henry as my own son right?"

Emma nodded. "Of course."

They held hands and walked around the woods with Henry and Lilli in the middle-in full view. They watched the kids play together, laughing; having fun. Lilli ran and tripped over a high root. Emma let go of Killian's hand and was about to run towards her when Killian stopped her, giving her the they'll handle it look. She watched as Henry helped Lilli up and mended her scrapped knee. 

Killian smiled. "They're fine with or without us."

"Yeah." Emma agreed. "Killian, I... I have a feeling that we're going to have a baby boy."

"A boy? That's amazing, Love." Killian grinned.

Emma placed a hand on her stomach and sighed with happiness. The life she was living right now was far better than what she dreamed of having. Emma looked into Killian's eyes and smiled. She saw a man who deeply loved her and their children. She saw a man she knew she could trust and lean on. She saw what she considered a worthy husband. Emma beamed looking at him. Killian raised an eyebrow. 

"What Love? What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Emma smiled. "I just-- I love you."

Killian smiled and planted a kiss on the crown of Emma's forehead. "I love you too, Swan."

Emma was working in the garden when Henry came over to her and asked her why she and Killian were always secretly talking behind his back.

"It's nothing." Emma reassured Henry.

"It's not nothing!" Henry's voice raised. 

Emma sighed. "I'm pregnant." She said softly. 

Henry's face lit up. "Mom that's awesome." He gave her a hug.

Emma hugged him back. "I think it'll be a boy."

Henry's face showed disappointment. "Oh." He said walking away, back into the castle. 

Emma sighed. She had an idea why Henry wasn't thrilled about the baby being a boy. 

Henry knew he wasn't the son of Killian so he believed that Killian didn't see him as his own son and now that Emma and Killian are having a boy, they'll love him more and hand down the kingdom to the boy and not him.  

Killian found Henry by the stairs. He sat next to him. "What's wrong lad?"

"You and Mom are having a boy."

"We're not sure if it is a boy or not."

"But if it is, he'll replace me." Henry looked down. 

"And why would he do that?"

"Because I'm not yours!" Henry cried. "You won't love me as your own. You won't hand down the kingdom to me."

Killian took Henry into his lap and Henry buried his head in Killian's chest. "I don't care if you're mine or not. You're my son. Mine and no one can say otherwise. Even if your mom and I have a boy, you'll still be my number one. Henry I love you. Even if you're biologically not mine you're still my family. And family don't always end in blood."

Henry looked up. "Really?"

Killian nodded. "I don't care what you decide to call me. Whatever you wish. Just know, I will- I will always be here for you."

Henry nodded. "Thanks Killian." He just wasn't ready to call him dad or papa yet.
