Once upon a time, in the Enchanted Forest, there was a tiny kingdom, peaceful, prosperous, and rich in romance and tradition. It was upon the untimely death of Emma's parents, her aunt's true nature was revealed. Cold, cruel, and bitterly jealous of Emma's charm and beauty, she was grimly determined to forward the interests of her own two sinister daughters. For the family fortunes were squandered upon the vain and selfish cousins, while Emma was abused, humiliated, and finally forced to become a servant in her aunt's house. And yet, through it all, Emma remained ever gentle and kind. For with each dawn, she found new hope that someday her dreams of happiness would come true.

"Emma! My dress needs to be ironed!" Regina yelled

"Coming Regina!" Emma exclaimed as she ran up the stairs.

"Emma! The dishes need to be washed!" Aunt Cora barked.

"Coming Aunt Cora!" Emma yelled.

"You bitch! Don't raise your voice with me!" Cora angered.

"I'm sorry auntie." Emma ironed Regina's dress then ran downstairs to wash the dishes.

Zelena walked inside with muddy boots all over the hardwood floor. "Emma clean this up when I'm done making a mess."

Emma nodded. "Okay."

"Emma!"

"Emma!"

"Emma!"

Emma couldn't take it. She threw a plate on the floor, shattering it. "ENOUGH!" She exclaimed. "I'm not some thing that can do so many things at once!"

Cora raced over. She grabbed Emma by the hair and yanked it back. "Look you little... You're lucky I said you could stay here with us. We feed you, give you a bed, keep a roof over your head, and this is how you repay us? You best be apologizing girl or you can stay in the barn."

Emma struggled to come loose. "I'm sorry Aunt Cora. It won't happen again."

"It better not." Cora let her go. "Now clean that up!"

                                                                                      *     *     *

Ever since her parents died, Emma had become a house maid to her aunt and cousins. She had never seemed to get some alone time. Everything her parents had left her was confiscated by her aunt. When Emma was about 20 she had become engaged to a prince from a far land but when he died in battle she found herself pregnant with his child. The only thing Emma managed to hide from her aunt and cousins was her son, Henry.

Henry was now 11 years old living with her ex-fiance's sister. No one would suspect him to be there. Prince August's sister, Kimberley, was kind enough to take Henry in, because of Emma's current living conditions.

                                                                                      *     *    *

Emma cleaned up the shattered plate. She cleaned the floor of mud and cleaned Zelena's boots.  At dinner time, Emma cooked, set the table and served her cousins and aunt. Emma ate whatever they didn't finish. Sometimes all Aunt Cora would give her would be half a loaf of bread.

"Hurry up! Eat like that we'll be here all day. Dust accumulating. Now we don't want that. Get to it!" Cora exclaimed.

Emma nodded. "Yes auntie."

After Emma practically shoved the bread in her mouth, she began dusting.

Regina called, "Cinderella!"

 "I'm coming." Emma exclaimed.

"Emma in here now!" Zelena called.

"Coming, coming." Emma got sick and tired of being called around

"Emma!" Aunt Cora yelled.

"I'll be there soon."

"Cinderella!" Regina said impatiently

"In a minute."

"Cinderella!" Aunt Cora called

- In a minute!

 Emma entered Zelena's room. "Good evening, Zelena. How are you?"

"As if you care. Take that to ironing and have it back in an hour.One hour, you hear?"

"Yes, Zelena."

                                                                                    *     *     *

After hours and hours of hard labor, Emma finally got some time to herself. In bed she dreamt of someday finding her Prince Charming and getting married, taking her son and moving away from the evils of her so called home.

Emma's eyes closed as she drifted into a deep sleep.
