“NO YOU CAN’T GO!” Jeydon screamed, tugging on Greyson’s hand that next Friday. Greyson was standing in the doorway almost in tears, suitcases already in his car.

“Jeydon I have to,”

“NO!” Jeydon pulled harder, trying to get Greyson to come back inside.

Greyson picked him up and moved the hair from his face.

“Don’t go daddy,”

“I’ll see you soon, ok?”

“Muma tell him he can’t go!”

“Jeydon he has to. He’ll be back soon.” I said, leaning against the staircase, trying not to cry.

“I’ll be back soon, I’ll even bring you a toy if you’d like.”

Jeydon sniffled, “Pinky promise?”

Greyson held out his Pinky.

“Pinky promise.”

After setting Jeydon down, Greyson turned to me. We jut looked at each other for awhile.

“I’ll miss you,” I whispered.

“I’ll call. Every day. Five times a day. I’ll call and text and video chat with you until you get sick of me. This wont be like the last time. I promise.” He looked at me seriously, meaning every word he said.

I pressed my lips to his in response. Jeydon was sitting on the stairs with Coby, not paying any attention to us.

“I love you,” He whispered, pulling away.

“I love you more,”

“Not possible.”

And with that, we finished our goodbyes and wiped away our tears as he drove off, leaving to go halfway across the world for a whole month.

Jamie was sitting on the couch watching some sporting event, Jeydon was sitting on the piano bench just staring at the keys, and I was staring out the of the large glass doors in the living room into the woods, with that eery feeling of being watched.

“Jamie...” I whispered, barley audible.

“Yeah?” He turned around to look at me.

“Thanks for staying here,”

“No problem,” He half smiled, “Dan should be here tomorrow. He’s having girlfriend problems.”

To this, I turned my head and tried not to laugh, “Danny got a girlfriend?”

I stood up and walked over to the couch, sitting next to him.

“Yeah, he didn’t tell you? They met work. Well, Danny was working and she just stopped by to visit a friend. They literally ran into each other.”

We both laughed. I turned my head to watch Jeydon. He was sitting on his knees on the piano bench where Greyson had been a few days before, tracing over the keys with his little finger.

“Jeydon...”

He turned his head to look at me, his eyes red and puffy.

“When daddy coming home?”

The sight of him crying made my heart ache. I stood up and walked over, picking him up.

“Soon,” I whispered. “You’ll see him soon.”

----------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning something in the air didn’t feel right. I slid out of bed and stepped over Jamie (I made him sleep in my room. He refused to take a spot on the bed, so he just slept in a sleeping bag on the floor) and walked into the kitchen.

I walked upstairs slowly, looking at the wall that held pictures of Greyson and I. We had this sort of tradition, that every year on April 23rd we would kiss and take a picture of it. The very first one was the first time we ever met. I was kissing his cheek, because at that point, I was just a fan. The one at the very top was us at our wedding.

I stopped at the top of the stairs, looking over the balcony into the living room before turning right to head to Jeydon’s room. Normally he’s up by now...

When I pushed the door open, he wasn’t laying in bed. I walked farther into the room.

“Jeydon?” I whispered. No answer. “Jeydon?!” I called louder, starting to panic.

I searched every inch of his room. He was not in there. I checked the bathroom, the guest room, went back downstairs and checked the kitchen, living room, dinning room, laundry room, my room, the downstairs bathroom. He wasn’t in any of those places. My heart was pounding hard. I ran down the stairs to get to the basement, searching for him down there. He didn’t seem to be there either. I ran around outside in fuzzy pajama shorts and a tank top searching for him, calling his name the whole time.

 He wasn’t there.

I ran into Greyson’s parents house, asking them if they had seen him. They haven’t.

I ran into Tanner’s house, asking him if he’s seen him. He hasn’t.

I ran into Alexa’s house, asking her the same thing. She hasn’t seen him either.

Breathing hard and officially about to lose it, I walked to the big black gate.

“It’s locked.” I told myself. “It’s always locked.”

As I got closer to it, my head dropped. It was unlocked, slightly open.

“No,” I whispered, remembering the phone call. “No, no, no, no, shit, no,” I bolted back towards the house, grabbing my cellphone. I dialed Greyson’s number. It was around 9 at night for him. I prayed he wasn’t doing a show.

He picked up after the second ring.

“Hello?”

“Our fucking son is missing!” I yelled, shaking. Jamie walked out of the bedroom with wide eyes.

“What?! He can’t be. Did you check everywhere?”

“I’m going to go double check ok?” Jamie whispered. I nodded and continued talking to Greyson.

“I checked everywhere. I even went all the way down to Tanner’s house. He’s not here Greyson. The gate is unlocked.”

There was a stretch of silence.

“Shit,” He whispered.

“What am I going to do?!” I cried.

“Just.. I...”

My phone buzzed, meaning I was getting another call. I pulled it away from my ear for a second to look at see who it was. My heart stopped beating at the sight of the unknown number.

“Greyson I have to go.” I whispered.

“What? Rachel no are you-”

I hung up the phone and picked up the unknown caller.

“Would you like to play a game?” The deep voice asked.
