I pushed my oversized sunglasses onto my face and slid into a pair of unnecessary heels. My hair was curled and tied up. I wore the short skirt Natalie had given me for my birthday. Overall, it was a bit much.

But I am the wife of Greyson Chance. I can’t walk around in baggy sweatpants and expect people not to judge me. Although, I shouldn’t really care. And normally I don’t.... but I’m not sure how much hate I can handle right now.

“Where are you going?” Cody asked when I walked into the living room.

“Um, I have to go do something.”

Danny glanced at me for a second, raising his eyebrow. I ignored him.

“That skirt looks so cute on you! I’m glad you finally decided to wear it!” Natalie half ran into the room.

“Yeah, I like it!” I smiled and picked up my car keys from the table. “I’ll be back in an hour or so,”

“Do you want anyone to come with you?” Danny asked.

Without being rude, I quickly responded with “No,”

I haven’t been alone with Danny since I realized he knew about the phone calls. I don’t know how much he knew, but I knew it was too much. Him knowing these things is dangerous. He’s going to try and ask about it. That’s just how he is, I mean, I’m sure anyone in here right now would ask too. But Danny...he’s one of those people who needs an answer to everything

And if I am being watched... then talking about it is not a good idea.

-----------------------------------

I was only halfway to the bank when my phone rang. I picked it up off the passenger seat and checked the called ID. It was unknown.

Confused because I had already gotten a call today, I pulled over and answered the phone.

“Hello?”

“Your friend knows.”

My heart froze.

“I swear to god I didn’t tell hi-”

“Shh, stop panicking. I’ve decided to be nice. He may help you.”

“Really?!” I tried not to sound eager. I don’t want him to change his mind.

“Good luck.” He hung up.

-------

I walked out of the bank, head high, with my money in my purse. There were paparazzi everywhere. You’d think with Greyson out of country they’d leave me alone. Unfortunately not.

I became fully aware in that moment that my shirt showed off my baby bump just enough for someone to be able to tell that it is in fact a baby bump. Greyson and I haven’t announced it yet. It’s not really that high up on our things to do list right now.  I knew first thing tomorrow (maybe even later tonight on E! News) they’d say something about it.

Another thing I realized is this is the first time I’ve been spotted alone in forever. Normally I have Jeydon with me. When he’s not with me, one of my friends are and he’s at home with grandma. That might cause a stir too.

I smiled and waved slightly, figuring it’s better to be polite than flip them off like others do. The flashes continued as I tried making my way to my car. It was kind of scary, being alone with all of them around me. Normally I have one of Greyson’s bodyguards with me just in case, but I had to do this alone.

“RACHEL, RACHEL!” I heard my name from all around me. The flashes were starting to bother me. The questions came all at once like they normally do. I answered a few on my way to my car.

“Rachel, How do you feel about Greyson touring?” A guy holding a camera asked.

“It’s what he loves to do so I can’t complain.”

“How are you?” Another said.

“I’m fine thanks, how about you?”

“Where’s Jeydon?”

“Not here,”

“Are you pregnant?” A woman holding a notebook asked me.

Luckily I was near my car by now so I didn’t have to answer. Greyson and I will have to tell them some other time. Before it really starts to show.

“Excuse me, could I get to my car?”

After a few seconds they moved away from what was actually Greyson’s car. I would have taken my convertible but Jey’s car seat is in the back.

“Thank you!” I smiled and closed the door. I placed my bag onto the passenger seat and drove away.

I left the money in the mail box of some house outside of town. No one lived here since the building was for sale, but it was the address the guy had given me. I knew it wasn’t likely that Jeydon was in there, but I just thought...

I quietly moved down the stairs and peeked through the kitchen window. There was no one in there. The place was untouched. I walked around the one story house to peek inside the other windows, not sure what I’d do if I actually saw something.

I didn’t though. The place was empty.

My heart sank. I walked back to the car and picked up my phone. Mindlessly, I dialed Greyson’s number.  It rang, and it rang. He didn’t pick up. It went to his voicemail.

“Hey this is Greyson! It seems I’ve missed your call. Sorry about that! Leave a message and I’ll get back to you!”

After the beep, my voice shaking I said, “Hey, it’s Rachel. I just need to hear your voice.” My voice caught and my eyes filled with tears. “I love you. I miss you. Call me back when you get this.”

I hung up and tried to control myself before driving home. I took a deep breath, reminding myself that I can now vent to Danny and have someone who understands tell me everything will be alright.

Even if it’s not entirely true, it’s something I really, really need to hear right now .
