“Rachel, did you take a thousand dollars out of our bank account?!” Greyson asked while we were on the phone.

“Uh, well um yeah, I did.”

“May I ask why?” He didn’t sound annoyed or angry with me, just confused. Which I suppose he would be. A thousand dollars isn’t exactly a lot of money to him anymore but normally I ask (even though the account is also in my name) before using his money.

“I can’t tell you,” I whispered.

“You can’t tell me?” There was a pause, “Well, why not?”

“I can’t tell you that either,”

“Is there anything you can tell me anymore?!” His voice rose slightly.

“Grey...”

“No Rachel, just stop. I’m sure part of why you’re acting like this is because Jeydon is missing, but maybe you’ve forgotten that he’s my son too. Do you think it’s easy being in a different timezone, a different country while all this is going on?!Rachel I know you. Something else is bothering you and you need to tell me or I wont be able too help you. I know it’s scary, and frustrating but remember that we’ve still got each other. Those wedding vows aren’t just words to me. "In sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, for better for worse."  You mean the world to me, Rachel and I need you right now. Please.”

We were both crying at this point. I’d never considered Greyson’s feelings through all of this. I felt awful about it. I sunk deeper into my chair and pressed the phone closer to my ear.

“You have to trust me.” I told him, praying that maybe somehow he’d understand.

There was a moment of silence, “I do trust you.” He whispered.

“I’ll tell you when it’s over. I promise. Oh god Greyson I am so, so sorry.”

“No, Rachel don’t be sorry. Listen, I’m coming home.”

“Greyson you don’t-”

“Don’t tell me I don’t have to because I do. I feel so useless over here. I can’t focus during the shows, I can’t sleep at night, my headaches are coming back... I just... I need to be with you. I’m supposed to go to Singapore in four days. I’ll just tell them that I’m getting on a different flight. I’m coming home.”

“Ok,” I sighed, allowing myself a small smile, “Thank You. I love you.”

“I love you too. More than anything. We’re gonna get through this, and we’re gonna do it together.”

“That sounds good to me,” I smiled at the thought of being in his arms again. Feeling safe again.

“I hate to say this but I gotta go. I’ll call you in the morning.”

“I’ll be waiting,” I laughed a bit, “Goodnight Greyson. I love you.”

“I love you more.”

“Not possible.”

He hung up. There was a knock on my bedroom door.

“Come in,” I called.

“Hey,” Daniel sighed.

“I was just coming to talk to you.” I half smiled at him.

He sat on the edge of my bed.

“When are you going to stop ignoring me?” He questioned, letting out a nervous laugh.

“Right now. I’m sorry. I only did it because I had too. How’d you find out anyway?”

“I overheard you talking on the phone the day I got here.” He answered quietly, “Is it bad that I know? Are you in any kind of danger?”

“Not anymore. This guy knows that you know. He told me today that you’re allowed to help me. And I don’t think so. But that doesn’t mean Jeydon isn’t.” My throat tightened. I didn’t want to think of Jeydon hurt.

“Well that’s good, right? I mean that I get to help you. The past few days must of been hell keeping that to yourself.”

I nodded. Danny opened his arms and I stood up to hug him.

“It’s going to be alright.” He whispered to me. “I promise you, everything is going to be ok.”

I pulled away and smiled at him.

Greyson comes home in four days. That means Danny and I only have four days to focus on getting my son back.

We’ve got some work to do.
