Greyson and I had been fighting like this all the time now. Honestly, I didn’t understand it. Cody and Natalie have been married almost as long as us and they don’t fight at all. We were fine the first few weeks but then...
He’s just always leaving. We depend on each other more now that we’re married than we did when we were just dating. We expect more from each other. We’ve got to find ways to encourage each other to go for our own dreams without letting their plans get in the way of our own. Plus, if you add Jeydon on top of that... there’s just so much to handle at once. Sometimes when it gets really bad, I have to question why we’re even together at all.
There was a light knock on the bedroom door before it opened slowly. Greyson poked his head in.
“Go away.” I mumbled, rolling over in the king sized bed to face the other direction.
“Rachel,” He said quietly. “Listen, I really am sorry.”
I continued to face the other way, quickly wiping the tears from my face. He walked farther into the room, closing the door behind him, and sat on the bed.
“Hey,” He spoke softly. “Can we talk?”
“About.” I said, trying to hide any evidence in my voice that I had been crying, but failed miserably.
“First of all... are you really pregnant?”
I rolled onto my back to look at him. “Of course I am, I wouldn’t of said it if I wasn’t.”
“Oh god now I feel like a jerk.” Greyson laid down next to me. “I left you once while you were pregnant. I can’t do it again.”
I just watched him for a second before turning my head to look at the ceiling.
“Sometimes I just think you deserve better.” Greyson whispered. “That I’m not good enough for you and I never will be.”
“Don’t say that.” I sighed.
He rolled over, placing an elbow on each side of me, reminding me of that night on the rooftop. Our last night together as boyfriend/girlfriend. He hovered on top of me for a few seconds.
“It’s true.” He said. “You deserve to have a guy who will be with you every day, always telling you how much you mean to him or how much he loves you..”
“Unless their name is Greyson Michael Chance, I wouldn’t like that. You need to stop being so hard on yourself, Grey. I love you. Of course I’d love to have you with me every day, to have you to myself, but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. You’re talented, funny, sweet, unbelievably sexy,” I poked his cheek trying not to laugh while he rolled his eyes. “And if anything, you deserve better.”
He leaned down and kissed me. It took a few minutes of that for me to realize I was supposed to be mad at him.
“Hey.” I pulled away. “If you think coming in here and kissing me is going to let you off the hook-” He kissed me again, rougher than the first time but somehow twice as passionate.
“Then unfortunately you’re correct,” I whispered when he pulled away, out of breath. He gave a crooked smile.
“How far along are you?” He asked quietly, sitting up.
I thought about it, “Um... a little over a month I believe.”
“Look who’s been keeping secrets now!” He winked.
“Oh, hush up. I only did it because you were busy and I didn’t want to distract you!”
“Uh Huh.” He smiled at me. “You need to be punished.”
He held his hands up and wiggled his fingers.
“Greyson I will kill you and feed your body parts to the dog!” I warned. He sat on my legs and tickled my sides.
“GREYSON!” I called, forgetting about Jeydon. “GREY! HAHAHAHA WOULD YOU HAHAHA I WILL BITE YOU! HAHAH YOU’RE GOING TO WAKE UP YOUR SON!”
I took my arm and grabbed his wrist, biting him.
“Um, ow?!” He pulled away, laughing. “You know that was a bit of a turn on.”
“Oh my gosh Greyson.” I hit him with a pillow. He got off my lap and grabbed a pillow of his own, hitting me with it. Soon enough, we were having a full blown pillow fight, laughing the whole time.
We crashed down on the bed next to each other, out of breath and just stared into each others eyes for a moment.
“I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you too,”
This. I thought. This is why we’re still together.
