As Lillie and I enter our room, I lock the door behind us and send my fabled Decidueye, Feathers, out of his Poké ball to guard us for the night. I am very suspicious of the men here, and I know too well who they are.
"Chirrr..." Feathers is trying to get my attention. He's obviously annoyed about something outside. I step over to him as Lillie gets ready for bed, and I listen against the door. I hear a two mumbled voices outside, followed by footsteps. Unfortunately, I couldn't make out what they were saying. I sigh, and sit down on the sofa, looking to Lillie, who seems to be fast asleep in bed.
"Sun?" She suddenly asks. I look at her, with a small smile.
"Hm?"
"Are there people looking for us?" She asks frightfully. I sigh again.
"I... I don't know, Lillie. But it doesn't matter. Even if there are, I won't let them lay a single finger on you, okay?" I say with a smile, to reassure her. She smiles back at me, cutely.
"Y-yeah. Thank you, Sun."
I throw my pajamas on, and climb into my bed, which is adjacent to Lillie's bed.
"Sun, those people in uniforms... they're Pokemon thieves. I... I think they followed me from Kanto," she whispers, with tears in her eyes. I grit my teeth at the thought of them.
"I know. They're a criminal organisation known as Team Rocket," I whisper.
"Team Rocket?" She repeats. I nod.
"Team Rocket... I... well, basically they disbanded when I was 11 years old," I say, struggling to find the right words. Decidueye can see my memories come back to me, and tears well up in my eyes. He nods sorrowfully.
"How do you know all this, Sun?" She asks, her eyes gleaming. I smile.
"That's a story for another time," I chuckle.
"Ohhh, okay." She giggles.
"But for now, get some rest, Lillie. You need a good night's sleep, after all."
"Okay. Night night, Sun."
"Goodnight, Lillie. I lo-" But I quickly cover my mouth at the last second. Luckily, she didn't notice. I lightly slap myself for nearly letting that go. That was way too close.
