The next morning, I wake up next to Lillie, who is sat up in bed reading a book.
"Good morning, sleepy head! You've been asleep for a while!" Lillie giggles, running her hand through my spiky hair, which is messed up from my sleep. I stretch and groan, forgetting that I'm on a boat.
"Just a bit tired from yesterday, I guess. How long have you been up?" I ask.
"Just about half an hour, but I didn't want to wake you up, so I left you to sleep in for a bit!" She laughs. I smile too.
"Fair enough, thanks! How did you sleep?"
"I slept really well as usual, thanks. What about you?"
"I feel good, so I must have slept pretty well!" I laugh.
"Good, you've been busy the last few days. You needed a good rest!"
"I guess so. Almost home, then,"
"Yeah. Almost," she whispers. We bring our heads closer together, close our eyes, and lose ourselves in a kiss.
"Good morning, lovebirds," Lusamine laughs from the other side of the room. Both of us suddenly open our eyes, and we stop kissing, blushing. We forgot about Lusamine!
"Oh! Sorry, don't let me interrupt you," she chuckles.
"Oh, uh... you didn't... sorry," Lillie stutters, her face flushing red from embarrassment.
"Of course," Lusamine laughs, getting out of bed and heading to the door. "I'll let you two do your thing for a bit, but get dressed soon, okay? I'll get dressed after you," Lusamine says, trying to stop laughing.
"Yes, we will. Thanks mother," Lillie mumbles, rolling her eyes. I chuckle a little - Lillie looks so cute when she's annoyed!
"Ahem... where were we?" She giggles, turning her attention back to me.
"Right here," I whisper, flashing my white teeth. She smiles, and we continue our kiss.
"Lovebirds!" Lusamine laughs from the corridor outside. After getting dressed and ready, Lillie and I head to the deck to meet Lusamine.
"Ah, you're back. How was your little love-session there?" Lusamine laughs, teasing us.
"It was awesome," Lillie whispers, her gaze fixed on the orange sea beyond. Lusamine chuckles.
"Um... Earth to Lillie?" I giggle.
"Oh? Ah, sorry. Did you say something, mother?"
Lusamine is finding this hilarious.
"Oh, it doesn't matter. I'll go get dressed," Lusamine chuckles, heading back to our room to get changed. After Lusamine is gone, Lillie rests her head against my shoulder and points to the distance.
"Melemele island!" I gasp, as I see the Alolan land not far away. Not long later, when we've all gotten dressed and eaten, we arrive at the Marina of Melemele island. The place I know all too well.
"Home!" I exclaim, practically leaping off the ferry.
"It is good to be back here again," Lusamine sighs happily. "I'm going to stay here at the marina for a bit, though. I need to catch a ferry to Aether Paradise," Lusamine finishes.
"Ok. Then we're going to go to Sun's house," Lillie says.
"Yep, my mother's probably worrying herself sick. See you later, Lusamine!" I say. With that, Lillie and I hop onto Tauros.
Lillie's getting more used to riding Tauros, but she still isn't totally over her fears of extreme speeds and heights. She sighs in relief, as I help her down and return Tauros to the ride pager.
"Feels like I've been away for ages," I mutter. I hold my hand against the door handle for a moment as I stare out at the ocean, before shaking my head and entering.
Mom gasps, immediately jumping off the sofa to run towards us for a hug.
"Welcome back you two! How was Kanto?" She exclaims, hugging me first.
"Hi mom! It was awesome, thanks," I say, the life being squeezed out of me by mom. She nods with a smile and releases me to hug Lillie, a little more gently.
"That's really good to hear, and how is your mother now Lillie?"
"She's fully recovered, and is on her way to Aether Paradise right about now," Lillie replies, hugging back warmly with a smile. We sit with drinks and talk for a while, mentioning nothing about Team Rocket. Mom would never stop worrying if she knew the truth. After settling back into home, I step outside for a moment and pull out my phone. I call Hau.
"Alola, Sun! How's Kanto?" He asks, immediately after answering the call.
"You mean how was Kanto?" I correct with a grin.
"Wait, you're back already?! So, did you find Lillie?"
"It's a long story, I'll tell you soon. But tell me - how's defending my title going for you?"
"Very well. There was a challenger who very nearly defeated me, but I came out on top in the end, thanks to Primarina."
"Nice, glad to hear you've been keeping the seat warm for me. I'll sort all that out later, but for now, head to Iki Town and gather our friends. There's something important I've got to say," I say, searching for the right words.
"Okay, sounds like a plan! I'm all excited now Sun, see you in half an hour!" Hau says excitedly, before ending the call. I put my phone into my pocket.
Half an hour...
I shrug, and head back inside to speak to Lillie and mom.Half an hour later, after I've told Lillie and Mom about the plan, Lillie goes to get changed. As she's in our bedroom, I get another call from Hau.
"Hey champ, everything's ready! Get to Iki Town quick, okay?" He says, sounding excited.
"Umm... okay, I'll be there in about -" But Hau has already ended the call. I smile and put my phone back in my pocket. A few seconds later, Lillie steps back out of our bedroom, dressed in an incredible white dress. My jaw just drops.
"Like it?" She says with a smile.
"I love it! You look great!" I say, stunned.
"Awww, thanks!"
I stand up from the sofa and take her hand.
"Ready to go?"
She nods, and so we say goodbye to mom, and head for Iki Town. When we arrive, hand-in-hand, we stop to see Iki Town packed with Hau, Professor Kukui, Professor Burnet, the Kahunas, the Trial Captains... a LOT more people than we were expecting.
"Welcome home!" They all exclaim. Lillie and I look at eachother, smile, and proceed to say hi to everyone.
"Whoa Hau, you did this all yourself!? Thanks so much!" I exclaim. He grins.
"No problem! Everyone loves good gatherings like this!" Hau laughs. Suddenly, Lillie steps forwards from behind me.
"Lillie! So Sun did find you in Kanto!" Hau laughs, bouncing up and down like a Mankey.
"Hello Hau, good to see you again!" Lillie laughs in response. We get some drinks and talk with Hau for a while, until Lillie and I decide to test his observation skills... in a way.
"And yeah, so he sends out his Incineroar, which is good for me because it's obviously weak against..." Hau suddenly pauses, gazing at us with a curious grin. "Ohh? What this about?" He smirks, pointing to us. Lillie has her arms wrapped around me from behind, and she's resting her head on my shoulder.
"Oh yeah, we may have forgotten to tell you that bit, Hau. We're kind of in a relationship now," I say casually, with a grin. Hau's jaw is dropped, but he slowly forms a smile. He cheers, and starts bouncing up and down so intensely, I'm surprised he doesn't break escape velocity. After calming down, he speaks again.
"That's awesome, congratulations! How many people do you want know?" He whispers the last part. Lillie and I look at eachother.
"They'll... figure it out eventually," I laugh. As the Sun sets and the Moon rises, I'm reminded of my sister. I'm reminded that even though she's gone, she will live on in our memories and hearts. A tear wells up in my eye, but I remain strong, and I don't let my tears flow. Not tonight, at least. As the evening goes on, the gathering turns more into a party, with Gladion turning up along with Mom and Lusamine. Even some local Alolan people decide to join in the fun. When the moment is right, and it's almost time to go home, Lillie sits down next to me. In the glistening moonlight, we embrace in a deep kiss, one that lasts for a long time. Everything is finally done. Team Rocket, Kanto, and most importantly, Lillie is with me again. Just like all that time ago.
Hey, well that's the end. Thanks for reading, and thanks again to the original author for letting me continue this. I hope y'all enjoyed.
